Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 "Blue"

Nurse Joy seemed to think for a moment and then spoke in an amused tone, "I hope you didn't think I just took your Pokemon away from you. I remind you that there was a formal request from the league to capture that Pokemon, so why don't you see your Trainer ?" "License ?" he said the last part with an expectant smile as he handed me my Trainer. License .

With a comical gesture I almost fell back into bed when I saw the new balance on my Trainer License .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent a few days recovering at the Pokemon Center as there wasn't much I could do against the united front of Mother Clarisse and Nurse Joy who insisted I had to recover properly, only when I proved I had no major injuries and was full of energy did they finally let me return to the orphanage.

Once back at the orphanage I decided to spend two days with Mother Clarisse, after the incident she went through a period of worry, so I focused on keeping her company so she could relax and let this whole thing pass, I felt responsible for her since since I woke up in this world she is the person who has worried the most about me, so it was inevitable that I began to develop affection towards her, I can say without thinking much that at least in this world she is the most important person to me because of all the dedication she has put into my well-being.

And so without realizing it, a whole week passed since the Hypno incident and many things changed around me, apparently the children I saved dedicated themselves to telling the whole city what happened, so my reputation rose a lot making the children of my orphanage put aside their reluctance towards me and began to chase me to tell them about my "adventure" and that the other Trainers and some stationed members of the League began to catalog me as a young promise, which was not very strange since for them I was the young Trainer with less than a week of experience who caught a level 42 Pokemon.

For a moment I felt conflicted by all of this but it would be a lie if I said I didn't enjoy all that attention, in a job like this reputation is crucial, whether good or bad the more attention you get the more chances you have of getting a Sponsor and with the Sponsor comes more money with which you can have access to better items and Pokemons which are essential for any Trainer who wants to prosper in this business.

Regarding money, part of the time I spent with Mother Clarisse was dedicated to discussing what to do with the reward for capturing the Hypno, $100,000 Pokedolars may not be a fortune but it was still a considerable amount, Under normal circumstances it would have taken me two months of uninterrupted missions to get a similar amount, and that's taking into account that sometimes due to circumstances beyond my control it's possible that the mission cannot be completed and the penalty fee may have to be paid.

After much discussion we came to the conclusion that it would be best to save half of the reward to prepare myself when I finally leave the city and use the other half to improve my Pokemon team which was still only Nidoran ♂, so I had the option of investing the $50,000 Pokedolars in a new member for my team or in a Moon Stone for when Nidoran ♂ reaches enough level and evolves into Nidorino .

It didn't take me long to lean towards the first option, although having a Nidoking soon sounded attractive it didn't seem like the smartest thing to do, first of all when facing Brock I would need at least two Pokemon and on the other hand on my way to Cerulean City I would pass through Mt. Moon so I would have a great chance of finding a Moon Stone there, not to mention that there is a rumor among Trainers that it is never good for the growth of Pokemons to make them evolve so quickly.

I remember when all this was just a game the advantage of waiting for evolution was that you could learn more attacks in the early stages of a Pokemon so it was smarter to postpone evolution until they had a decent Moveset , while in this world forcing a Pokemon to evolve to its later stages quickly wears them down and diminishes the potential they can reach, I think it's like forcing a human to go through their adolescence in one day and reach adulthood quickly.

Although it seemed strange to me at first, it seemed quite logical when I thought about it carefully. In this world, Pokemons are living beings and, like all living beings, they must have their appropriate growth periods, no matter how unique they are.

With that idea in mind I went to the Pokemon Center to make the request to capture Pokemon, originally I had the idea of capturing my entire team myself, but I had in mind to acquire a Psychic Pokemon, since if the adventure with the Hypno showed me anything, it is that it is better to have a Pokemon that can quickly get you out of a dangerous situation and there is no better escape than a Pokemon that can Teleport you with a thought, not to mention that although I have the pendulum necklace I do not trust that it can protect me from other Psychic Pokemon or something worse like a Ghost-type Pokemon.

While I was pondering this, I inadvertently arrived at the doors of the Pokemon Center. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by several Trainers who were there, some with more emotion than others. I wouldn't doubt that some would seek my friendship after hearing the children I rescued and who started calling me their "Hero."

Speaking of those children, all of them without exception stopped being Trainers , the League made a great effort by offering to pay for their therapies and giving them new Pokemons to continue their lives as Trainers , but even with all those incentives they decided to return to their respective homes and continue with simpler lives, personally I did not judge them, even I being mentally an adult for a moment had the idea of quitting since it requires great courage or in my case ambition to continue with this job after going through a near-death experience, not to mention that they are just children and had to deal with all that in the early stages of their journey.

After greeting the Trainers at the entrance, I quickly headed to the counter, where I saw the always cheerful Nurse Joy who gave me a pleasant smile before saying: "Hi Max! Glad you're back soon, you haven't been getting into any trouble, have you?" she said the last part with a playful tone, surprising other Trainers who managed to hear how she spoke to me with such familiarity without the rehearsed speech she gave to everyone else.

"Hello Helen," I said with some embarrassment as I addressed her by her first name, as something else that changed this week was that Nurse Joy insisted I call her by her first name, leaving me feeling a bit silly as I momentarily forgot that although her last name is actually Joy, she actually has a first name like everyone else.

Nurse Joy seemed almost fascinated that I was addressing her by name and replied with a delighted smile: "It's quite refreshing that you say my name, although my family is in charge of the Pokemon Centers, it's not so special that they call me by the name "Nurse Joy" when I have too many relatives with the same title throughout the region" she said the last part a little exasperated while leaning distractedly on the counter.

For a moment I found the change in her attitude towards me amusing, since when I met her she hadn't strayed from her professional persona, but I felt touched that she felt more comfortable with me considering the short time we had known each other, since who wouldn't mind a beauty feeling so comfortable with them? -It's definitely a shame we have such a big age difference-, I thought the last thing with a small hint of regret.

"I'm glad to see you Helen, in the end I decided to make the request for the Psychic Pokemon as I told you" I said with a fleeting smile hoping she would help me carry out the request "That's great Max! I know you intended to capture it yourself, it's a shame there aren't many Pokemon of that type around, but I'll help you find the most suitable one for you, what Pokemon do you have in mind and how much are you willing to spend?" she said hastily as she stood up and put on a determined look.

"Since I intend for it to be a permanent member of my team, I will give a large reward of $50,000 Pokedolars. Personally, I prefer a low-level Pokemon so it can get used to it and grow with me, and preferably I want a Pokemon with a good type combination so it doesn't fall quickly if Ghost Pokemon attack me," I said while putting my finger on my chin trying to decide which Pokemon could help me with that.

Nurse Joy seemed to think with me before commenting: "Based on the specifications you gave me, I think a Psychic-Fairy Pokémon would suit you best. Fairy types can be somewhat complicated to train, and few Trainers regularly use them on their teams, but I think they would be the most suitable for you. If you're interested, I can investigate your options," she said thoughtfully as she checked her computer.

I thought about it for a moment and deduced that it was the best option, they say that fairies can be temperamental and somewhat obsessive but they are also protective of their Trainers , as long as I stay firm and set the right boundaries I'm sure I could train a Pokemon of that type properly. " Sure, I'll follow your recommendation, what options do you have?" I said waiting for the computer to finish loading.

Nurse Joy didn't take long to list the Pokemon that appeared on the computer: "There are few options and most are from other regions, there are: Mime Jr and Ralts that are nearby, as well as those that later have an evolution of that particular type such as: Hatenna and a somewhat unique Pokemon from the same region that is also called Ponyta but has a different appearance and type than the ones we know here" she said with a curious expression as she described what she guessed was the Ponyta of Galar.

"But I'll be honest with you, although the amount you're offering is quite considerable, I don't think it's enough to get the Galarian Pokemon, in particular both are quite difficult to catch according to my computer, so personally I would recommend Ralts, since with the amount you're offering you should catch a Ralts with good Potential and if I'm even more honest, the Pokemon from the Mime Jr. evolutionary line are somewhat annoying," he said the last part in a low tone while discreetly covering his mouth.

After hearing the last sentence I couldn't help but let out a big laugh which only caused a small blush of embarrassment on Nurse Joy's cheeks, who quickly stretched out her arms trying to cover my mouth causing the Trainers around us to look at us confused.

"To tell the truth, I always thought that Ralts was a great option and with Nidoran ♂ we cover a good counter against several Pokemons, please take the money and let me know when you have news" I said while passing him my Trainer License in an attempt to distract her from my outburst.

Nurse Joy just looked at me with a suspicious face before taking the Trainer License and add: "I have a relative who lives in Petalburg City in Hoenn , as a favor to you I will personally ask him to get you something special, just please be discreet with it since I can't be partial to Trainers so it's the only favor of this kind I'll do for you" he said the last thing with a warning tone while lowering the volume of his voice.

"You are an angel Helen, when I become a champion I will remember what you did for me" I said in a flattering tone while Nurse Joy laughed and replied "You are getting ahead of yourself Max, but I will take it into account, come back later and maybe I will have news" she said while waving her hand in a gesture for me to leave the place.

Not wanting to push my luck too far, I said goodbye to her and quickly left the Pokemon Center and headed straight to the PokeMart to replenish the resources I had lost and didn't have time to buy again.

After my visit to the PokeMart I spent the afternoon playing with Nidoran ♂, it may sound silly but the stronger the Pokemons become the harder it is to form the bond of friendship with their Trainer and they start to become disobedient, a good example is Ash's Charizard that after growing up quickly stopped listening to him until they had to go through several situations that managed to bring them closer, so I decided to spend the day forming bonds with my Main Pokemon before the rigorous training that I would subject it to after Ralts is added to the family.

It was honestly relaxing spending time with Nidoran ♂ and although at first due to his serious personality he felt somewhat reluctant to play, it didn't take long for him to jump for joy as we chased each other or get excited as he cheated with his ears and located me in a matter of seconds while we played hide and seek.

especially after what happened with Pidgey I felt somewhat reluctant to play with my Pokemons, but partly I consider that it's for these kinds of moments that it's worth striving in search of a better life, although at this moment it's just the two of us maybe in the future I can share these moments with my own family and my Pokemon team or even in the short term with Mother Clarisse if I manage to make her lose her fear of Pokemons.

The afternoon passed quickly after having so much fun and soon we found ourselves again in front of the Pokemon Center, without waiting too long I walked in with Nidoran ♂ in my arms and I was greeted by a voice that came from the counter " Maax Over here! I have good news!" said Nurse Joy as she raised a hand trying to get my attention.

With a smile on my face I ran to the counter ignoring some jealous glances from the older Trainers who were looking at Nurse Joy with longing and I quickly arrived with her "I did it Max, my relative answered me and moved some connections to get you something special, you just have to go to the PC and insert your License Card , then it will ask you to put in an empty Pokeball and you will receive your Pokemon" he said with an animated tone while he excitedly pushed me towards the PC that all the Trainers use .

Once I was in front of the PC I inserted my Trainer License and a notification of completed request appeared, in it appeared a small image of a Ralts and a checkmark indicating that it was done, not wanting to delay any further I put one of the Pokeballs I bought and waited for the exchange to be made, the Pokeball began to shine before being replaced by the now occupied Pokeball with the Ralts.

With the Pokeball in hand, I felt a slight feeling of annoyance. I promised myself that I would take care of and treat this Pokemon as if I had captured it myself, but it would definitely be the last Pokemon I would get this way. Something about asking for the strong Pokemons and getting them with this ease felt simply wrong.

Nurse Joy, interpreting my silence as nervousness, patted me lightly on the back: "What are you waiting for, Max? Even I want to see him. Hurry up!" she said with an excited tone as she looked at me with the Pokeball in my hand.

With a small laugh after seeing once again how Nurse Joy behaved with me now, I quickly pressed the button on the Pokeball and a ray came out of it from which a Little Ralts materialized that left us both speechless.

"Blue?" I said in a lower tone, almost as if it were just for me, as I admired the shy Ralts in front of me.
