POV: Riku
So, when it was her turn, she didn't just rise, but did so with a flamboyance that captivated everyone's attention, literally jumping out of her chair. And again, one couldn't help but notice her beauty, accentuated by her tall, slender figure and her generous curves.
Tall and slim, her blue eyes shone intensely, while her long, thick blond hair, meticulously styled into pigtails, was adorned with unique barrettes – one featuring a white bear head, the other a black bear head. Her expression? It wavered between pride and something more theatrical, almost exaggerated. Difficult to pin an exact word on it. But whatever it was, she left no one indifferent.
Eccentric Girl: Ah, it's finally my turn to shine, isn't it? The wait was unbearably endless, a true eternity submerged in an ocean of despair and events so dreadfully predictable! But here, my moment has arrived, upupupu! The despair of waiting has made this moment even more deliciously tragic.
Huh? What is she talking about exactly...? I'm having a hard time following, is everything alright with her, ah ah ah?
And then, before I even had time to think of anything else, just after she spoke, her body language changed radically, in a completely unexpected way, absurdly mimicking a cliché rock star. She adopted an annoyed expression while sticking out her tongue, only raising the ring finger, index, and thumb of each hand, and crossing her arms in an X shape.
Enoshima: Hell yeah, let's go! I'm the freaking Junko Enoshima, you losers!!
I'm totally lost, what's going on, for heaven's sake? It seems like I've just encountered the most eccentric and bizarre girl I've ever met... At first, she was speaking in a really strange manner, like a totally offbeat girl, with a very particular and surely characteristic laugh. Then, in the next moment, she transformed into a rock star stereotype to introduce herself. The entire class seemed perplexed, not quite knowing how to react, staring at her incredulously, though some seemed merely amused... Honestly, I must admit it's quite entertaining to watch.
And as I was pondering these oddities, even before continuing her presentation, Enoshima changed her behavior and gestures as radically as she had done before. Without transition, she adopted the antithesis of her previous attitude, taking on a higher-pitched and ridiculously sugary voice, mimicking a kind of overacted and extravagant kindness. Her cheeks were slightly rosy, she made big, sweet eyes, and placed her two fists under her chin.
Enoshima: Oh my, what I absolutely adore above all is everything that's desperately despairing, tee-hee~! Isn't it just deliciously, deliciously boring? So awesome, don't you think~? Do you not agree~? And then, you know what else I love madly? Shopping, yes yes yes!
She had changed her way of speaking again... But wait, how does she do that exactly? Does she have the ability to exaggerate all possible personalities? And there's something else... She says she loves everything that's "desperately despairing"? But what is that supposed to mean? Then, as if to add to the confusion, she mentioned loving shopping, as if it were a minor detail drowned in her real interests... The more she talks, the less I understand her. Her statements are contradictory, ending with a weird assertion that she loves despair... Could she be a masochist or something? Honestly, I think it's better if I stop thinking too much about her; I feel it's going to give me a headache...
But she wasn't done yet, continuing her momentum, she changed her attitude and personality again, becoming even more contrasted. Suddenly, she appeared much darker and intimidating, her expression freezing into a cold and sinister look, now standing simply straight and still.
Enoshima: Yes, what do I despise the most? Anything that's desperately boring... Of course, despair has its own exquisite charm, making it delectable, but it remains desperately, desperately boring. Like some souls here... Anything boring deeply disgusts me.
And there, she adopted a dark and intimidating way of speaking... How many personalities is she going to use? Does she plan to keep changing continuously? Is it a technique to avoid showing her true self, to hide? It's really impossible for me to pin her down... It seems like she doesn't have a true personality, or conversely, that it's more than just an actress's performance. I'll probably also ignore the fact that she just contradicted her own statement by saying she doesn't like what is boring, finding it despairing while liking it a bit, but not enjoying what is boring, directly mentioning "like some people here"... Yes, definitely a weird person, I can assert that without hesitation, ah ah ah!
To conclude her presentation, she... changed personality again. At this point, I was just trying to guess and predict what attitude she would adopt next... Her gestures evolved once more, adopting a weary and apathetic attitude, simply that of someone who is bored, nothing more noteworthy there.
Enoshima: Yeah, well, that's it for my introduction, there's nothing else to add. I have no desire to share the desperately despairing details of my life with you.
Said that way, it almost sounds like an insult, ah ah...
Strange Boy: Hey, that was really cool to watch, you know? I don't come across someone as... unique, let's say, every day. Haha, seriously, Enoshima-san, you've entertained me well~
But an unexpected arrival added to the scene, seemingly quite amused by Enoshima's presentation, displaying a constant mischievous smile.
This boy with short black hair and brown eyes exuded a certain charm with his handsome face.
Well, he wasn't wrong in a sense: it was indeed entertaining to observe Enoshima's behavior. However, it was also quite bizarre... I mean, I can't tell if she's serious or not... But she can't be, right? Can she?
Orihara: Oops, I skipped the introductions! Hi, I'm Izaya Orihara. I'm sure we're going to get along great! You seem so interesting, Enoshima-san~! I'm really looking forward to finding out what makes you so special!
Izaya Orihara, huh? He seems just as strange as Enoshima, albeit in a different way... No, at least he seems less extravagant, more childlike, I'd say.
Meanwhile, Enoshima, still standing, didn't even seem to really look at Orihara. In fact, she appeared... sad, despairing? Huh, is that part of her repertoire of personalities? Some kind of severe, theatrical, and tragic depression, with a sad voice as if she were about to cry.
Enoshima: Oh, what a tragedy... What am I to do? There he is, introducing himself to me uninvited, and he dares to think he's amusing... How do I convey that his dull and uninteresting life doesn't move me, without sinking deeper into this well of despair? ... How despairing.
Orihara: Hehe, you know, what you just said, it stings a bit, it's almost like it pierced my heart~! He bursts into almost childlike laughter. Maybe I don't attract you that much, but you, you've definitely piqued my curiosity! Unrequited love has its charm, don't you think~?
I could never have imagined witnessing such a bewildering conversation between two such extravagant individuals... The entire class seemed just as perplexed, which was entirely understandable in this context.
Now, it was finally time for the last person in the room to introduce themselves, which would end this long series of introductions... I had noticed that the last girl had remained seated quietly all this time, not asserting her presence, choosing only to reveal herself at this moment.
She, rather petite and looking adorable, stood up gently, her face displaying a cold and serious expression. Her blonde hair was tied into two cute pigtails, and she wore a pair of red barrettes, likely to keep her hair out of her face.
Aoyama: Ugh, lowering myself to converse with mere commoners is hardly in my habits. However, it seems that here lurk a few individuals possessing enough presence to justify my introduction. As for the others, consider yourselves privileged to be in my presence! As she spoke these words, she adopted a haughty posture, crossing her arms with a disdainful air. Be attentive, I am Mio Aoyama, and you will address me using "Miss" or "sama," understood?
Well, do we have another narcissist in our class, a female version this time? Certainly, she doesn't seem as despairing as Kōenji, but treating everyone as "commoners" with a lofty and superior air is certainly not going to help her make friends...
Kōenji: Oh, but who do we have here if not our dear
Aoyama: Hmph, it is obviously less surprising that someone of your ilk is aware of the existence and prestige of my family. That slightly distinguishes you from the usual insipid mass of commoners. Therefore, I am inclined to tolerate your presence by my side.
Kōenji: Oh, it takes a lot of courage to dare speak in such a way to a being as perfect as myself,
Aoyama: What?! Silence, I have no time to waste on your foolishness!
I sighed with amusement and resignation after this more than strange exchange between these two narcissists, turning away to look at the class, when something contradicted my previous judgment... Hmm, it seems she wasn't the last one after all! A smile formed on my lips at this thought.
Still seated in her place, she was engrossed in her book, it was indeed Horikita!! Knowing her, I would have thought she would have already left the room, but apparently, I was wrong. I'm glad she stayed!
Riku: Horikita, you're the last one... Would you please introduce yourself? I finished, offering her a kind smile.
Hearing her name come out of my mouth, Horikita immediately looked up from her book and turned her gaze in my direction... I then gave her a broader smile, which she only returned with a perplexed and cold stare before seeming to resign herself...
She sighed, closing her book firmly and placing it on her desk, then stood up, taking care to adjust her skirt along the way.
Horikita: Alright, fine. My name is Horikita Suzune. I prefer to be alone, so do not approach me without being invited!
After her introduction, the expressions on the faces of her classmates seemed somewhat dismayed, while I smiled inwardly, sighing.
Yes, I only know her a little, but I can already assert that this is very much like Horikita. Well, she will eventually understand the usefulness of having friends and how wonderful it can be~! I am convinced she will evolve and grasp this at some point; I have no doubt about it! Hehe, I am ready to become her very first friend and teach her all this personally; I am sure that deep down, she can be very kind.
It seems that all the remaining students in the class have now introduced themselves, haven't they? It was really interesting to discover all these faces~! Yes, there are many intriguing and interesting people here; I'm sure this is going to be a year that's as great as it is fun, at least, I hope so.
