Grace, however, found herself laughing again, though the sound was hollow. "You're saying this as if it's fact when you have nothing to prove it except a birthmark and a statue you saw years ago." She shook her head as she tried to dispel the weight pressing down on her chest. "This is absurd."
But Sir Washington only gave her a knowing look. "Is it?" His voice was calm, patient. "Tell me again, Grace… Have you ever experienced moments where you felt drawn to something unfamiliar? As if a part of you recognizes things that you have no reason to?"
This was the second time he was asking her about something along her inner encounters; however, Grace still stiffened.
She thought of the strange sense of familiarity she sometimes felt in places she had never been. The times she seemed to understand things about history and design that no one had taught her. The way her body instinctively knew how to fight and maneuver in combat like she had been trained in another life.
