Chapter 58 - CH: 58 Manipulating the Will

Time passed gradually.

Lupin spent the entire dark night running up and down the stairs, establishing a firm presence downstairs. The layout downstairs mirrored that of the six rooms upstairs, with the exception of the second bedroom being converted into an expanded hall for communal dining. In 1991, Lupin opted to transform a small room into a state-of-the-art luxury cinema for the family.

As the head of the household now, he felt a sense of overwhelming responsibility.

Moreover, due to Lisa's infatuation with a particular pianist character from a TV series, Lupin, feeling jealous, splurged on an exorbitantly priced piano and hired the most prestigious private piano tutor.

The only snag was the tutor's striking beauty and volatile temperament, provoking Lisa's jealousy.

Romance blossomed downstairs, while upstairs, a tragedy unfolded.

Pedro's anguished cries had echoed since the beginning, now reaching a crescendo. He felt as though his death was imminent.

Understanding how Andre had forced him to travel time, enduring countless timelines over 52 years, weighed heavily on him.

Bound to a chair ensnared by formidable dragon chains, preventing any chance of escape, Pedro found himself subjected to the 'Oculum Mutatio' charm, delving into the depths of his memories through the window of the soul, his eyes, at the behest of Andre.

"Please, Andre, let me go. I can't take this anymore!" Pedro pleaded tearfully.

Andre merely sneered, "Nagini is your daughter, and Anna is your granddaughter. You should bear this in mind." he pronounced coldly.

While Anton remained engrossed in his potion consumption, memory exploration, and note-taking, Anna diligently organized the amassed parchment of notes. Countless parchment piles overflowing Anton's study, now cluttered in Lupin's former room.

Occasionally, Anton would hastily grab a manuscript and go to his room, lost in thought for hours on end.

During these moments, Pedro found solace, despite Andre's unwavering gaze.

"I have my own obligations, Andre. Lupin's current tranquil existence will be disrupted by recurring issues if he continues casting spells. I am still bound by the 'Unbreakable Oath,' unable to heal him without facing dire consequences," Pedro murmured with a beseeching tone.

"There will be time for that in the future!" Andre adamantly refused. "Do not act on my behalf!"

"Indeed, Lupin should be the first to receive treatment!" Anton interjected with a gleam in his eyes, patting Pedro's shoulder enthusiastically. "Ah, you have jogged my memory."

"Haha, by combining the Soul-shifting curse and the Avis charm, I can manually alter the form of my soul. It's a brilliant solution." Anton dashed back to the room, parchment paper in hand, brimming with excitement.

Andre and Pedro exchanged puzzled glances. "What did he mean by that?" Andre inquired.

"I am equally confused," Pedro admitted.

"Don't you get it even after all your centuries of experience?" Andre's tone carried a hint of disdain.

Pedro remained silent, casting a complex gaze at Anton's retreating figure. "You see, Andre, he had ample opportunities to delve into additional goblin magic and potions from my memories, yet he chose to focus solely on perfecting the 'Avis' charm based on Nerida's magical theory."

"He delves into a realm of magic that may hold no personal benefit, delving into profound depths," he observed introspectively.

"Andre, we are indebted to him," he acknowledged, a note of solemn appreciation coloring his words.

Andre viewed the situation differently. "He saved Nagini, and that is a debt I owe him. However, his current research, whether transforming into a werewolf or a viper, yields immense power."

Pedro chuckled softly, "By dedicating himself to mastering the Protego charm, the magical defense he attains surpasses that of a werewolf. He is correct in prioritizing the study of essential spells."

After a moment of contemplation, Andre reached a decision.

"I shall request Durmstrang Institute of Magic to extend him an acceptance letter. As the school director, Headmaster Karkaroff will grant me this privilege." he declared with determination.

In Europe, three prominent wizarding schools each possess distinct characteristics.

Despite Hogwarts' prominence under Dumbledore's leadership, among the old pure-blood families, Durmstrang Institute of Witchcraft and Wizardry remains the preferred choice. This institution exclusively admits students from pure-blood backgrounds, focusing on developing the family's future with an emphasis on power, danger, and dark magic.

Andre believed that Durmstrang Institute of Witchcraft and Wizardry was the ideal fit for Anton.

Considering the timing, the three major wizarding schools would soon dispatch admission letters to incoming students.

"Anna, inform Lupin that he will undergo treatment from Pedro. Additionally, relay that I intend to conduct a minor experiment on him, ensuring his safety." Anton hurried out.

"Pedro, prepare for the experiment. When the time comes, I will use the dislocation spell to manipulate his soul. Ensure the removal of all Cruciatus curses, and execute the procedure meticulously, without error." Anton declared with determination.

Anton handed a piece of parchment paper to Pedro, "Let's give this a try. If it proves effective, Nagini will be saved." he added optimistically.

With those words, he hastened to Lupin's room in search of additional notes.

Observing Anton's haste, Anna looked concerned and remarked, "Father, he hasn't slept in a week."

Andre chuckled softly, "I admire this young man's dedication."

Confusion lingered among the group. Pedro busied himself setting up numerous machines in the hall, diligently repairing the ones previously damaged by Snape to ensure Lupin's complete recovery.

Upon returning from work at the company, Lupin and Lisa appeared. Lisa appeared somewhat overwhelmed, prompting Lupin to reassure her, "Anton would never harm me."

"Let's get to the basics," Anton began, addressing the group.

"According to Vulchanova, all things originate from a primitive point. Our objective is to invert an object, influencing it with our memories, will, soul, and everything associated with us, impacting those involved." he explained, his tone steeped in profound understanding.

"Werewolves, vipers, and humans represent distinct races!" he emphasized earnestly.

"And these races manifest due to the influence of a wizard's will." he elaborated, his words resonating with a profound truth.

Anton endeavored to simplify his explanation for everyone's understanding, he continued, "For instance, a patronus charm invoking divine intervention. According to this theory, its essence lies in the soul's yearning for protection, manifesting outwardly."

"Moreover!" Anton raised a finger, to punctuate his point, "Why do we involuntarily transform into werewolves or vipers?"

"Drawing from my extensive transformation experience and the runic symbols of werewolf transfiguration observed with my teacher, I discovered that an invisible will controls our soul in a specific realm. It may manifest as wolfsbane potion, a curse, or the will of a wizard casting a spell. It acts as a switch, triggering under specific circumstances!" he explained, his words brimming with revelations.

"Although we cannot surgically excise our will like unwanted internal organs, we can deceive it!" he continued earnestly.

"We can mislead this will, providing an incorrect shutdown and restart." he elucidated. his words brimming with revelations.

"Simply put, Lupin, you can manipulate the wolfsbane potion within your body to believe it is the night of the full moon, prompting your transformation into a werewolf. Similarly, on the actual night of the full moon, trick the wolfsbane potion into perceiving that the full moon has passed, preventing another werewolf transformation." he clarified with conviction.

Lupin's eyes widened in astonishment, "Are you saying I can control the timing of my werewolf transformation?"

Anton smiled reassuringly and confirmed, "Currently, this is our only option. You can select the timing within each month freely."

"In the future, I will continue researching to find a method for your will to naturally forget the full moon night, preventing werewolf transformations regardless of the presence of the wolfsbane potion." he assured with unwavering resolve.

A surge of overwhelming emotion gripped Lupin, causing his breath to hitch with gratitude. "Anton... Thank you," he expressed, his voice trembling with heartfelt appreciation.

Lisa tightly grasped his hand, her eyes brimming with hope.

"Let's begin then. Pedro, prepare for the procedure. After the incision, I will mark the targeted area with light and dark magic. You need to open your mind at that spot." Anton instructed with authority.

Pedro's throat constricted in apprehension as he exclaimed, "You're insane!"

Anton's smirk held a sense of unwavering confidence, "Andre, get ready. You will do the same for Nagini later. I believe this experiment will delay her transformation into a snake by at least ten years. That timeframe is sufficient for me. We have discovered a solution to permanently eradicate Nagini's and Anna's curse."
