The sun had just risen, and the color of the scenery shifted from gray to clear visibility. The flowing water did not freeze, and the slender streams were sandwiched between the white stones on both banks. In the winter of Chang'an, such a crisp and cold sound was not easy to come by.
Even though the lotus stems had long withered, there was still a touch of emerald green in the stream. The cold-natured fish lay deep in the water, motionless even as food particles scattered on the surface, simply waiting for them to slowly sink down.
In the round eyes of these scaly creatures, the usually empty stone bridge above the water was now cast with a large, wavering purple shadow. With every slight movement, the water surface rippled with clear circles.
