Nathanael's pov:
I take a moment in front of the creme beige door to Accalia's room before giving it a gentle tap with my knuckles.
Despite getting no response from the other side, I have no doubts she's inside. Accalia's heart beats at a normal rate, but aside from that and her breathing, no other sound reaches my ears.
And so, I knock again, only to be met by silence from her end once more.
"Accalia…," I try, "I know you're in there, and I know you're not sleeping," after a deep breath in, I hold it for a few seconds before finally letting it out to speak, "Please, open this door,"
New sounds travel to me where I stand, that of rustling fabric first, then footsteps patting the floor second, nearing the door until they finally stop for the clicking of the lock to come and replace them.
Nothing happens after that. Accalia simply walks away from the door, leaving me to wonder whether I should try the knob or not.
