Cherreads

Chapter 3 - Ch.3

Tonight it was raining, and you could hear the loud screams and chirping of various insects that quite liked the humidity. I was sitting by the exit of the cave under the overhang enjoying the soothing sounds of rain and insects for a while. I was even eating soup and simply thinking about what else to do on my little holiday.

And then things became weird. Lightning struck a spot just out of my line of sight, multiple times. It was sudden, jarring, and my ears began ringing. It looked as if the sky was trying to murder something beneath the trees, the strikes continued for 30 seconds before everything took on a green hue. It was like every color was tainted green, you could see the other colors clearly and yet they were all green. Sound ceased to exist, I couldn't hear the rain, the insects, I couldn't even hear myself chewing the meat from my soup. Something in the sky exploded into a ball of blue flames and then it began to rain blood. I tried moving and my body felt heavy, as if time was slowed and yet my thoughts weren't. I got to my feet taking two steps towards the cave, and realized I forgot my soup. Agonizingly I turned around to look back at the pot, and tried to scream. Everything in my body wanted to run. Every bone, every muscle, every fiber and cell within my body was trembling. A man was crouched by my fire, eating MY soup, and wasn't affected in the slightest when it came to his movement. I felt as if I was moving through heavy water and he was just there. A sword upon his back, the hilt normal save for the bottom which had an eyeball serving as a gem. It seemed to be moving, watching, staring. The man had shaggy grey hair and no eyes. Instead of eyes this man had flames for sockets, one blue and one green. When he met my gaze I collapsed as if I saw something that shouldn't exist in this world. I couldn't even think anymore. He finished my food and leaned against the wall of the overhang staring at me through the flames. I couldn't speak, couldn't move, couldn't think.

Eventually the area reclaimed it's sound, blood became water, and the green tint that perverted the world faded.

What the fuck is going on. I can think? I can think! Run, I need to run.

And I barely stood up before he appeared inches from my face, pushed my shoulder down and made me sit again. Then he flickered, and was back at his spot.

I'm still shaking and it hurts to breathe. He's here? Im sitting? He's over there? God's above I do not want to be here.
