Chapter 20 - Three Eyed Raven

After trickling his way around the city, Caeruleum concluded that finding a demon on the verge of death would be difficult.

The city, shrouded in mystery, has a bustling atmosphere. Homes, shops, and unique establishments decorate the surroundings, each holding its own enigmatic story.

Nestled within a realm of endless twilight, the city is illuminated by an eerie, crimson glow emanating from its towering obsidian structures.

Crafted in intricate Gothic architecture, these buildings stretch toward the sky like twisted spires.

The city's streets are paved with black stone, glistening with an otherworldly sheen. They are lined with ornate lampposts that burn with a ghostly blue flame, casting long, wavering shadows.

Occasionally, demons in groups of three, each bearing a triangle-shaped emblem on an exposed part of their body, can be seen patrolling said streets.

As soon as a commotion ensues, a trio of patrolling demons rush to settle the matter.

Therefore...

Splat, Splat, Splat

Shaping his body into a ball, Caeruleum bounces his way deep inside a nearby forest.

As he continues to move, Caeruleum Scans his surroundings in hopes of finding a suitable host.

Through his unique perspective, Caeruleum senses a dense vitality surrounding him.

Said vitality represents the numerous trees that make up the forest.

Curiously, Caeruleum Makes contact with a nearby tree.

Using sound vibrations, Caeruleum identifies the tree as seventy meters tall. The tree is shaped like a scarecrow with myriad arms, and the leaves, rustling in the wind, glow with a weak flickering hue.

As his body makes contact, Caeruleum feels a sudden instinct.

Without hesitation, Caeruleum abides by his instinct.

Slush

Caeruleum's body suddenly enlarges with a ripple, which expands like a giant tsunami and drowns the tree.

Caeruleum's massive body shrinks a few seconds later, leaving behind a dark crystalline tree.

Marveling at his transformation, Caeruleum attempts to gasp in surprise, only to produce a sound akin to metal shards rubbing against each other, a stark contrast to his expectations.

Wanting to test out this new form, Caeruleum turns his 'gaze' to another nearby tree, then...

Snap

Swish...

With a thrust, Caeruleum attempts to pierce a hole in the tree using his dark crystalline branch, but...

Boom

As if Being Shot using an electromagnetic rail gun, the branch detaches into an ark of light, penetrating countless trees before finally disintegrating on the horizon.

'To think a tree could gain this much power after being possessed by me,' Caeruleum thought to himself; 'I wonder what would happen if I possessed my original body.'

Shaking away his random thoughts, Caeruleum, now filled with a greater sense of enthusiasm, detaches himself from the tree, which, in turn, reverts back to its original appearance, albeit missing a branch.

Continuing to bounce in a random direction, Caeruleum keeps his perception active in search of any prey.

Finally, after traveling for a few more minutes, Caeruleum spots a life source flying above him. The Creature, through its exterior outline, resembles a raven with fangs protruding from its lower beak.

It swoops back and forth, tearing apart the wind with its enormous size. It has three eyes, two in the usual location and the remaining one in the center of its head.

As if sensing something, the raven-looking demon turns its gaze toward Caeruleum. It then swoops down toward him, considering him a source of food.

Realizing that he's been spotted by the bird, Caeruleum decides to stay still and wait patiently, hoping to test his damage immunity. However, he quickly changes his mind once he thinks of his first interaction with Cuniculus.

Not wanting things to take any unexpected turns, Cearuleum bounces back, landing on the root of a tree,

Slush

Once again enveloping a tree, Caeruleum takes control and aims a branch towards the descending bird, who, after being stunned by the sudden change, attempts to escape; however-

Swish

Puchi

A branch punctures the bird's wings like a light beam, causing it to fall from the sky.

Landing on the ground with a defending boom, the bird lets out a piercing screech that sounds like the ringing of one's ears.

Caeruleum, still in his tree form 'watches patiently as the bird writhe about, rolling around the floor in agony while its sharp gaze never leaves Caeruleum's 'body.'

The raven-like bird slowly calms down, causing the dust to settle. This allows one to see the small puddles of black blood that pool on the ground and random smears and patches that splatter on nearby bushes and trees from the bird's previous struggle.

Finally satisfied, Caeruleum releases the tree from his control and proceeds to pounce on the fallen bird, however-

swoosh

With a great exertion of its injured wing, the bird generates a mighty flap that sends a gust of wind, followed by a rain of feathers hurling towards Caeruleum.

Caught off guard, the feathers strike Caeruleum's body, sinking inside and disappearing into nothingness. The generated kinetic energy quickly gets converted into stored power that will take effect once a future host is in possession.

Mentally heaving a sigh of relief at the bird's failure to cause harm, Caeruleum finally affirms the validity of the system's descriptions.

With much more confidence, Caeruleum approaches the bird, ignoring its bitter struggle; upon making contact, Caeruleum enlarges into a massive glob of strange liquid and engulfs the bird.

After a few seconds, the blob shrinks, revealing an uninjured four-meter-tall demonic raven.

Caeruleum, now The raven, stands out with its malevolent presence. Its feathers are an abyssal black, absorbing light and giving off an eerie, otherworldly sheen.

Each feather appears sharp and sleek, almost metallic as if crafted from the essence of night itself. When it moves, a faint shimmer of dark energy follows, like a shadowy aura.

His sharp and curved beak, with a glossy, obsidian-like texture, is capable of slicing through flesh with ease.

It possesses three eyes arranged in a triangular formation on its head. Each eye glows with an unsettling crimson light, burning with the intensity of a smoldering ember. The central eye, slightly larger than the other two, seems to pierce through the veil of reality, seeing into realms beyond mortal comprehension.

The raven's talons are long and razor-sharp, gleaming with a dark, oily luster. They are capable of grasping and tearing with supernatural strength. When unfurled, its wings span a considerable length, casting a shadow that seems to chill the air around it. The wings beat with a sound that resembles a distant, echoing thunder, adding to its aura of dread.

the nearby trees and lush vegetation quickly wilt and wither into a heap of rot and decay

Paying no heed to his surroundings, Caeruleum, through the system, purchases a mirror, allowing himself to marvel at his majestic yet ominous appearance.

Then, throwing away the mirror into the system inventory, Caeruleum unfurls his wings, his wingspan spanning over sixteen meters.

With a flap, Caeruleum, shoots to the skies-

Or at least he attempted to.

Crashing through the already dead and decayed trees, Caeruleum stumbles in the air for several moments before crashing embarrassingly into the ground

Quickly getting back on his talons, Caeruleum quickly makes sure there is no other living creature in the vicinity to witness the spectacle before making another attempt at flight.

Fortunately, although unsteady, Caeruleum finally succeeds, bringing forth a strange sense of accomplishment and mild excitement at his new perspective.

Blessed with actual vision through his new body, Caeruleum surveys the forest,

The forest below is sprawled with ancient trees, their countless branches intertwining to form a dense canopy. A thick mist hangs low, creeping through the underbrush and casting an ethereal, ghostly veil over the landscape.

Shaking off his intrigue, Caeruleum slowly turned his attention to the distant city from whence he came.
