Samuel Johnson's eyes hung low, the very image of a meek little wife. Having just cried his heart out, he now felt somewhat embarrassed when facing Amanda Smith.
"Okay," he responded softly.
Amanda Smith dried the tears on his face and lifted his chin with her hand, looking into his bunny-like, red-rimmed eyes. She must have thought of something because she suddenly let out a snort of laughter.
Her laughter only added to Samuel Johnson's embarrassment, and in a fit of pique, he snatched the towel from Amanda's hand and covered his face with it, saying gruffly, "What are you laughing at! No laughing!"
"Alright, alright, I'll stop laughing," Amanda took back the towel from his hand and placed it on the washbasin, then came over from the bathroom and sat next to Samuel Johnson.
"..." Samuel Johnson turned his head slightly and glanced at her.
