I had closed my eyes to allow my fate to take its course. I took a deep breath, and fell into my memory. I reminisced my past, just another memory to think of. As I opened my eyes I found myself resting in a dark and barely visible room with no sense of time. I remembered this room and what would take onward in this memory.
Darius, my first brother, entered the room and found me laying on the comfortable. I was exhausted by then but he never cared about how I had felt. He came closer and stood over my resting body, and glared in envy. Was that all he was here for, maybe or maybe not, I didn't care to ask.
"The Demon King has summoned us, brother, as well as the Sinister Twelve," he announced.
I glanced up at him irritably but there wasn't a thing I could've said against what the sorry excuse of a demon our father had appointed as ruler wanted to speak to me about. After the scum had made me captain of the Sinister Twelve and assigned us to enforce his rule and not send us to battle. To kill the angels that betrayed me and began the war that places us demons in hell for all eternity. I wouldn't care less of his stupid laws, I wanted bloodshed and a real challenge.
"What does he fucking want with us?" I asked Darius.
"How am I supposed to know his reason to summon us, Ravedos? Do you expect me to pull the answers out of your ass to tell you?" he asked me.
He was annoyed but what could he do against me. I arose from the floor I laid. Stood beside Darius and he snarled at me. As brothers we had always had tension between each other. However this tension between us kept growing as well as his jealousy after I had become the leader of the Sinister Twelve, thanks to that awful Demon King.
I sprouted my wings out of my back, which was excruciating to accomplish. Then Darius and I set off to meet the Demon King. As much as I enjoyed flying it was also very painful every time I had to sprout my wings, after shedding them my body would have to heal and the cycle would restart anew.
"How have you performed brother, as captain of the twelve vilest demons in our home?" he asked me.
"It is all the same as commanding you, however there are twelve of you," I replied wittily.
"I shall kill you to satiate my quench for your blood and drink it afterward. Unless you would like to stop the quarrel that is to come," he said.
"There is no need for that brother. Where could I find a replacement of you?" I said.
He was silent. He ignored the comment and looked at ahead. I had thought about what to say but I didn't want to continue the irrelevant discussion with him. What I would've said would cause another fight between us. "Very well, brother, you may do as you please," I told him. He remained silent.
We arrived by the Demon Kings throne where he awaited our arrival. We landed in front of him and kneeled before him. We weren't the only ones he was awaiting. The others had not arrived, so Darius and I had to wait for them. I stared at the Demon King with a purely annoyed gaze. He chuckled at his prestigious captain, while we both knew that he had been torturing me during training.
I thought about how much more pain and suffering I would have to go through. Chained up to the ground, my movement restricted and I couldn't fight back against them. I would be attacked by each one of them. One by one, slashing, stabbing and biting. I have bleed, I have been bruised and I have almost died to them on multiple occasions. My resentment toward him for allowing has been ingrained into my memory.
As I came back to reality they had arrived. They were as revolting as I remember them not even the females would have satisfied me. The Demon King stood from his throne. He commanded us to group together so that all of us would hear what he had to say. I looked at everyone and sighed at the assignment he was giving us.
"Today we are not going to train and use our captain as a practice tool. Further away there are demons who are rebelling against and angels who have infiltrated our home. You shall go and kill all of the rebels and bring me the heads of the angels," he assigned us.
I felt relieved and invigorated. I can finally hunt down my enemies after a long while, I can finally savour killing demons who went against the Demon King's rule. I use that as an excuse to kill anyone however I wished. I was primed and ready for this assignment. The others didn't feel same way as I did because they knew that I was going to horde every demon for myself. They thought they were not going to hunt down prey that I was to keep all to myself. It might explain why they use me for training. I wasn't in the mood for all of that this.
We grabbed our weapons and made we were prepared for any counter attack against us. I looked around the distant hell I resided. I wanted to see how much travel we would be doing after all. What was in my glance was demons of all sorts fighting each other for dominance or survival. The land lit with hellfire and molten rock that gushes from the ground up. This was home.
"Captain, we are all hope that you haven't lost your edge during our training together," one of the demons said smirking.
If it wasn't Karados, the one I despised, spoke to me and dared to make mockery of me. One day I will have his love, Narrisa, as my servant, to do whatever I wished with her body, only to spite him. I really wondered if she would do everything I instruct her to do. That is worth a try after all. In hell, demons can also fight in agreeance that the victor would be master of whoever lost to them. I myself have a few servants but I let them live out their lives.
After everything was done and said, we took off, flying to our destination, to the aforementioned demons and angels. Come to think of it, it begs the question of how the angels managed to enter Hell. Where they sent here in accordance to my mother's command to watch over my each and every movement? No, I do not think so, she wouldn't care enough to do so. After all, these angels are all a joke to me.
In the air I spotted the demons and attacked two in a group of fifteen. I drove my blade into the chest of one of them, I kicked the demon of my blade, dodged the other demon who was charging at me. As it turned around to attack, I swung my blade and decapitated the demon. Blood gushed out of the neck rhythmically follow the heart beats of the demons three hearts. The other demons charged toward me to only be killed by the Sinister Twelve and my brother. The rebels burst into a shower of blood covering all of us. I raised my blade by me face, wiped the edge to the tip with my index finger and licked the blood off my finger. The blood itself was tasty. It was sweet and bitter like a lime mixed with a ripe orange. I then lowered my blade and stared at the angels.
"What brings your kind to my home?" I asked them.
They looked at the demons that were slain before them, the Sinister Twelve, Darius and I. They were trembling in fear. Afraid that this was going to be their last moment alive. I raised my fist and halted the Sinister Twelve from attacking. I wouldn't have fun allowing to kill the angels. Yet I was curious to know the reason for them being here. "We do not come here to fight, we are here deliver a message to the Demon King," they responded. Darius, himself, laughed at the absurd words the angels spewed. I myself was intrigued as to why the angels would want to speak to him. Darius, knew that the Demon King would never speak to angels, not even the ones sent by the Supreme Deity.
"What makes you believe that the Demon King would to speak to you or I even see your kind here? You are sadly mistaken to believe that yourselves," Darius told them.
"Darius, the Prince of Hell, your father, the Demon Lord, had asked for the Supreme Deity's message to negotiate the terms on the current war our races are involved in. We are incapable of taking part in acts violence ourselves as we are merely messengers. That is our only duty," one angel spoke.
"Do you believe in such word brothers?" I asked Darius.
"I am not aware of father's current activities, Ravedos. They may speak truth however I do not believe their word. Shall we take them to father? I do not him to be waiting for nothing," Darius told me.
"Hmm. Very well brother, we shall escort them to father's whereabouts. As for you two, however peaceful you may say you are, if you try anything besides what you have said to you will do, I shall not waste a moment to end your lives. Last but not least you twelve, shall return to the Demon King and report that we have dealt with the rebels, whilst Darius and I are escorting the angel to see our father, understood?" I said.
"Very well captain, we shall do as you instruct us to," Merandus spoke.
They all left to report back to the Demon King, leaving the angels, Darius and I behind. My brother and I made sure that they spoke their truth. If they didn't, I would kill them and let the stupid war to rage on. Darius flew off ahead, the angels followed him while I trailed behind them. We flew over many depressions filled with molten rock, accompanied by hellfire and a barren, blistering hot wasteland, which I called my home. I watched over demons as they slaughtered each other, fucked each other and all the unholy, degenerate things you can think of to each other.
Over what looked like a mountainous landscape, I saw demons fighting over food and a mates. It was a pitiful sight. I ignored them. I then heard flying nightmares approach, screeching and I braced myself for an attack. My hearts began beating slowly in harmony, breathing slowed and my body becoming cold. I was ready for anything. One nightmare attack, I allowed to take me and I fought back. With one strike in the air, I sliced it in half. I managed to balance myself in the air. I flew after the others.
One of the angels were grabbed by the nightmares, and he screamed as it tore him apart. Its friend joined the exotic feast of an angel's corpse. I watched it all unfold and felt disconnected. Well, one angel was more than enough and I needed to protect her.
After what felt like eons we arrived at our fathers home guarded by human sized lesser gargoyles. What they were guarding was a small mansion, painted in crimson. It a beautiful design like the old mansions. The front wooden opened up as it expected the arrival of the angels and our father stepped.
"Ah, if it isn't my sons," he said.
"Hello father," Darius and I said.
He wasn't as big as the Demon King, he resembled a human more. He was dressed just like me, a dark cloak covering the body. He had dark blue eyes, blonde haired and horns protruding his forehead. Quite tall at around 1.9 metres tall.
"Thank you for escorting the messenger, but I was expecting two of them. Care to explain what had happened to the other one?" he asked.
"The other was eaten by the nightmares on our way here, I couldn't help them," I told him.
"Ah! I see, very well. You two may leave, unless you would care to join us," he said.
"No need father, Darius and I have elsewhere to be," I responded.
"I hope he is treating you all well. I take it you are enjoying your new role, Ravedos," he said.
"Not in the slightest," I whispered under my breath.
The angel was saddened to know that her accomplice was killed and her eyes were teary. I never had a care as to understand why. I stood there thinking about what I would've done to the other nightmare. Darius looked back at me and placed his hand on my shoulder. I looked at him and sighed. We both decided to leave and return to the Demon king.
That was the beginning of why I care for other beings. I kept my eyes closed for a bit longer. I thought of how much a fool I was back then, back in Hell. Everything changed after I met her, that angel and her guard.
I opened my eyes and stared at the sun through the skyline I fell through. I slowly take a deep breath and sat up and thought about that day again. I sat on the ground in the building next to library, after fighting the demons that snatched out of the library. This was a mess. I thought about their looks, Tarius, Donny and Marie.
My eyepatch reappeared on my left eye and laid back on the ground once more. I need to think of what is to come. To think about who are we going to face. To think about who we are going to lose along the way. To think about why and who I am doing it for. This world needs Captain, but most importantly it needs Ravedos, the demon-angel.
