Chapter 31 - The Beginning of a New Adventure: Journey to the North

Chapter Thirty-One: The Beginning of a New Adventure: Journey to the North

After meditating in the rabbit cage, I selected a group of them and began feeding them the Soul Pearl.

Then I moved on to the other cage group.

At that moment, Mei spoke.

Mei said: "Brother, what are you feeding them?

I'm feeding them the Soul Pearl. I want to know what will happen to them. Will they be able to awaken their consciousness, or what will happen to them? It's a test.

At that moment, the Poison Empress screamed.

The Poison Empress said: "What are you doing? Are you wasting this rare treasure on a group of low-level beasts that don't even have consciousness, not to mention intelligence? Are you insane?

I am not insane; I am searching for an answer. If these low-level beasts are capable of changing and transforming simply by receiving the Soul Pearl, it would hold much greater significance. This is a test that could open doors to things we didn't even know existed.

The expression of the Poison Empress changed the moment she heard my words, yet she showed neither approval nor rejection. She silently watched, as though waiting for me to witness what would happen.

Suddenly, something strange began to occur. The rabbits I had fed the Soul Pearl to started to squirm. Their eyes, which had once been full of life, began to lose their vitality, and a kind of glow emanated from their bodies before they collapsed, motionless, their breaths stopping. Similarly, the other beasts I had fed the Soul Pearl to also seemed to fall into a near-death state.

It seemed like a failed experiment, but I wasn't ready to accept that. Something unnatural was happening, and this result was unexpected. Still, there was a mysterious feeling within me, as though I had triggered something far larger than I had anticipated. Despite the nearly lifeless state these beasts had reached, I could sense something strange simmering in the air around us.

Mei whispered: "What is this? Why did this happen?

Mei seemed surprised and confused. She was staring at the rabbits that had fallen lifeless to the ground, unable to comprehend what had occurred.

I don't know… maybe the Soul Pearl is too powerful for them, or perhaps they weren't ready to accept its power. Nothing happens without reason."

Everyone stopped moving for a moment, and as I watched the dead or nearly dead beasts before me, I remembered what the Poison Empress had said about the unknown values in this world.

Perhaps this was just the beginning, or maybe this experiment was the one that would open the doors for us to truly see the power of the Soul Pearl.

But deep down, I knew this might be another lesson in enduring loss before reaching victory, and I couldn't back down now.

The Poison Empress said: "Hah, I told you it was a waste. It's impossible for these beasts to evolve. You've destroyed their minds, and we gained nothing; instead, we've lost a treasure."

"Who says there's no benefit from what happened? I gained a result, and it taught me something else about this pearl. I realized that those with weak spirits and consciousness will be destroyed."

After saying that, I looked at the rabbits and beasts that were lifeless corpses before me. I didn't feel sorrow; I was calm. In this world, failure is part of learning, and the price is always paid in advance.

Anyone with a weak spirit and consciousness will end up with the same result.

However, what about humans and beasts with high consciousness and strong spirits?

I smiled a cold smile.

It seems I need to choose different beasts this time—something with at least a hint of consciousness or a strong fighting instinct.

My eyes glowed faintly as I thought about the next opportunity to test my new theory.

I must get a test subject.

Anyway, let's go. I've thought about our destination… we will head north.

I stepped out of the cave, and I felt a cold breeze brush my face. I flapped my wings and soared into the sky. I looked at Mei, and I saw excitement burning in her clear eyes.

While the Poison Empress flew beside me, the little turtle was lying on my back, and the old serpent, in his human form, was flying beside me as well.

Mei said with faint enthusiasm: "To the north, then?"

I nodded to her calmly.

In this world, the north means the wildest of wildernesses. Areas that have only been trodden by a few powerful beings. I knew that the adventure there was dangerous… but it was also rich with opportunities.

Our journey to the unknown began. Step by step, I was eager for what awaited us there… something that could be the beginning of something greater.

Anyway, after I obtained the inheritance of the Vampire Ancestor, all previous plans became substandard—no, they became low-level.

However, I did not decide to change them, but things were different after the battle that occurred and the encounter with the Poison Empress, where I became certain of the Soul Pearl's capability.

Previously, I had prepared a plan to go to the tomb of the Buddha Emperor and the Demonic Emperor located within the Green Empire.

However, due to the battle that happened, everything changed.

Anyway, in the north awaits the tomb of the Ice Phoenix Empress, and before reaching the north, the Lightning Field awaits me.

I am confident this journey will be enjoyable.

Especially Mei and I—we will benefit greatly from the Lightning Field now that we have already obtained the Storm Essence?

We need about a month of travel until we reach the northern border.

We are in the far south, and this means we are very far from the north.

Anyway, we can arrive faster if we do not stop, and yet I am indeed thinking of stopping at the Field of Lightning to train on the Storm Essence.

Thinking about this greatly increased my excitement.

However, before reaching the Field of Lightning, there is a location I want to go to. It is three days away from here.

In the novel, the leader of one of the greatest sects, who is also William's friend, is the one who obtained the contents of this location.

Anyway, this location does not contain techniques or combat skills.

Rather, it contains a unique kind of techniques and skills used in a very special type of combat.
