Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

I refused to believe Lyra's story, my mind still reeling from her betrayal. I couldn't understand how she could deceive me so thoroughly.

"You're coming with us," I said, my voice firm. "We'll get to the bottom of this, and if you're telling the truth, we'll help you. But if you're lying, you'll pay for your treachery."

Lyra nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I understand," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

We bound her wrists and ankles, ensuring she couldn't escape. As we led her out of the chamber, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Had I been too harsh? Should I have given her more chances?

But I pushed those thoughts aside. I had to prioritize our safety and our mission.

As we journeyed back, Lyra remained silent, her eyes cast downward. I could sense the weight of her guilt bearing down on her.

When we finally stopped to rest, Lunaria spoke up. "We need to talk about what happened," she said, her voice gentle.

I nodded, and we sat down, discussing Lyra's betrayal and our next steps. "We need to get to the bottom of this," I said. "Find out if she's telling the truth."

Lunaria nodded. "I'll keep an eye on her," she said. "Make sure she doesn't try anything."

Thane and Zarek stood guard, watching Lyra with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. I knew they were wondering how someone I trusted could betray us.

As the hours passed, Lyra remained silent, her eyes fixed on the ground. I could sense her fear, her uncertainty.

Finally, I spoke up. "Lyra, tell me the truth," I said, my voice firm. "What happened? How did the master turn you?"

Lyra hesitated, her eyes darting around. "I...I was captured by the master's minions," she said, her voice shaking. "They...they used dark magic on me, twisted my mind and soul. I didn't know what I was doing."

I studied her face, trying to read her expression. Was she telling the truth, or was this just another lie?

As we continued to question her, I noticed inconsistencies in her story. Small details that didn't add up, contradictions in her words.

"You're not telling us everything," I accused, my voice firm.

Lyra hesitated, her eyes darting around. "I'm scared," she admitted. "The master has people everywhere. If I reveal too much, they'll know."

I leaned in, my voice low. "We'll protect you," I promised. "But you need to trust us."

Lyra took a deep breath, her eyes locked on mine. "Okay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll tell you everything."

And with that, she began to reveal the master's plans, the locations of his strongholds, and the names of his allies.

As she spoke, my eyes widened in shock. The master's plan was far more sinister than I had imagined.

We spent hours discussing our next steps, planning our strategy and preparing for the battles ahead.

As the sun began to set, we settled in for the night.

I turned to Zarek. "Take Lyra back to our hideout and lock her up," I said, my voice firm. "We'll deal with her later."

Zarek nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at Lyra. "I'll make sure she's secure," he said.

I watched as Zarek led Lyra away, my mind focused on the task at hand. We had a dagger to retrieve, and I wouldn't let anything get in our way.

"Let's get moving," I said to Lunaria and Thane. "We have a temple to explore."

We made our way deeper into the temple, our senses on high alert. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, and I could feel the power of the dagger calling to me.

As we navigated the temple's corridors, we encountered all manner of traps and puzzles. But we worked together, using our skills and strength to overcome each obstacle.

Finally, after what felt like hours of navigating the temple, we reached a grand chamber. And there, on a pedestal of black stone, lay the dagger.

It was a beautiful thing, its blade shining with a soft, ethereal light. I could feel its power calling to me, drawing me in.

But as I reached out to take it, a voice spoke up from the shadows.

"You shouldn't have come here," it said.

A figure stepped out of the darkness, its eyes glowing with malevolent intent.
