A week later….
I was about to go out when I heard the doorbell rang. Annoyed, I opened the door and saw Dylan at my doorstep. The video quickly resurfaced in my memory as soon as I saw him. Without speaking, he wrapped his arms around me.
Normally, I would feel warm. But right now, all I felt was anger.
I pulled away as gently as I could. What's wrong? Did something happen? He asked when he noticed I wasn't in a good mood.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and showed him the video. He went pale as a ghost when he saw it. It was sent to me a week ago, from an unknown number, I said, trying my very best to keep my temper in check.
Olivia….this is a misunderstanding. So you're not the one in the video? I am but….But what? That was a few years back Olivia, she's my ex. I've told you about it before.
Your ex, huh? This looks pretty recent to me. No wonder you've been distant. And here I was, thinking it was my fault.
You've got it all wrong Olivia, I broke up with her three years ago. Then why am I being tormented by your past?! Wait, did your mom do this?
It can't be, she wouldn't do something that'll ruin my relationship. Really?
Few weeks back, I met her at the mall and she told me to stay away from you or I'll suffer the consequences. Maybe I should have listened to her.
My….mom said that? Why didn't you tell me anything? Cause I thought it was a situation I could handle, I didn't know she could do something like this.
I took a deep breath, forcing back my tears. I think we need some space, I said. He looked at me with confusion. What's going on? What's wrong? I shook my head. Nothing, I just need some space, okay? I need some time to think. He took a step closer, his voice filled with concern. Is this about what happened? It's a misunderstanding Olivia, I can prove it.
I sighed. It's not about this Dylan. I just need some space, can you please respect that? He nodded slowly. Okay, I'll give you space. But can I ask, is this the end for us? I don't know, I said. I just need some time to think.
He nodded again, his eyes filled with sadness. Okay, I'll wait. But please, don't shut me out completely. Let me know if you need to talk. I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. I will, I replied.
We stood there for a moment, the silence between us filled with a sense of uncertainty. Then, he turned and left, leaving me to my thoughts.
