Chapter 90 - Familiar Yearning

After clearing his mind and honing his skills, Z'oelo was ready for training.

It had only been a few years since his birth in this body, yet he was attending training sessions since forever ago.

His father was anything but lenient with him as training usually came with new wounds and if it did not, he was incapable of doing anything for the remainder of the day due to how tired he was.

All of the other children of the families and clans had much less pressure on their minds as not everyone was under the scrutiny of the mightiest person in the world.

They still attended classes like normal to raise their affinity towards an item they felt suitable for.

For the young that were not directly under a specific clan, they held ceremonies where they all chose a random item after birth.

Whichever item they chose, they would use for the time being unless something in them changed.

This was the basis of every Shetavi as it was important to nurture their future Livelli— that is, if they were able to nurture one.

There was no tried-and-true method of giving birth to a Livelli nor was there a way to identify if one did have the special organ to nurture one.

It was speculated that the organ was inside of the brain as the Livelli required the time to scour the deepest parts of the partner's being.

The organ in particular was named a livellum; it was the vital organ that housed the forming spirit companion and tied it to their respective partner.

While the Livelli was forming, it was essential that it had spent some time to gloss over the vital essence of the partner they were born to.

That was beside the point as it would be a while before his Livelli awakened.

The range for Livelli maturity was typically three to five years after a Shetavi's birth.

As they matured quickly after birth, the Shetavi reached adulthood practically a year after they were born.

Most creatures of Lokhil had to mature quickly as competition was high.

Nearly all of the influential beings had a Livelli of their own to use as they saw fit.

Typically, the items that the Livelli took the form as were weapons or equipment, however there were the few unique items that manifested.

Such items took the form of cooking utensils or other inanimate items like clocks or bracelets.

Even the wildest of beasts had the innate understanding of what their Livelli's mechanic was as the Livelli had the ability to communicate with their partner.

The deeper, richer the connection to their Livelli, the better the communication.

Ultimately though, only the more intelligent species could house a stronger connection with their partner.

It was one thing to be an intelligent being with the power of a sentient tool and another to be a less intelligent being with a similarly knowledgeable partner at its disposal.

The boost in companionship allowed for an increase in survivability for the more savage of the beasts.

There was much to learn when studying the relationship of the Livelli, but what was universally known about them was that when the host died, so did their partners.

It was seemingly impossible for someone to steal a Livelli from their respective partner and utilize it for their own.

Thinking about his opportunity to host his own Livelli, Z'oelo now walked towards the kitchen of his house.

His mother stood by the counter making breakfast for him before his morning training began.

"Good morning Z'oelo. I'll have breakfast done in just a moment, so just wait till then."

"Alright, Mother," his response was kept short.

The Sword Clan's Leader had only one wife, but in addition to her he also had many concubines.

All of which were simply playthings in the eyes of the leader as he desired only a single spawn to train at a time before he had another.

His mother happened to be one of the first lovers he took and that was the main reason for his desiring for a child.

Z'oelo cared little for the family in this life as he had already taken it upon himself to keep the deep-seated trauma of his past.

He simply took his sword with him outside to enjoy the morning weather.

He always enjoyed taking the time in the coolness of the early morning to breath it in and prepare for what was to come.

He breathed in, 'Soon. I can feel it calling.'

He had hidden the fact that he was sensing the call of his Livelli partner for a while now.

Sooner or later though, it would be time for his spirit partner to manifest as an item for his use.

He knew instinctually however that there was something more to his partner's whining.

'A sword, huh.' He looked down at the sword he had been using to train with.

'Doesn't suit me at all.'

He grew full of contempt at the idea of pleasing his father with a sword Livelli.

'If anything, I'd rather a bat to bash his head in for thinking he can dictate my life however he pleases.'

At that moment, a chiming sound reverberated throughout his mind.

"Tch." He audibly sucked his teeth.

There was a familiarity to the chime as he felt a certain response from the being behind the reverberating message.

A vision of the past resurfaced on his awakened mind and brought him to tears.

'So. I'm not alone this time is that it?'

He felt a deep desire to free that which was locked away somewhere within himself.

The person of the past who was with him in the end of his final moments.

A burning passion rushed to his face as the tears would not stop; Z'oelo knew that a person's Livelli knew their life's experiences in full.

He wondered if she saw the past.

'Muni, huh.'

He could not help but recall all of her features.

"Not bad. Not bad at all."

If she were to know how he felt in those exact moments he could not help but wonder why they were sent here together.

All he knew was that they now held a spiritual connection.

Indeed, his slumbering Livelli was the same person of his past trapped inside of him, just waiting to manifest into something fitting for him.

Just as he yearned to find someone familiar in this life, she too was afraid of the new fate bestowed upon her.

She yearned to take form and embrace this poor fellow she knew all too well thanks to their mystical connection.

To be forced to endure all his life, it was no wonder he grew up as he did.

In the end, he only desired a relationship that was familiar to him.

A mother who sided with the good-for-nothing father and a bunch of judgmental nobodies.

Who knew that something so cruel could be the all too familiar lifestyle of a downtrodden kid.
