Chapter 128 - Like Me

Bellefontaine Ohio

Sitting in our shared office, me and Rose read through piles of paperwork.

I dealt with whatever Julius sent us, while Rosealie dealt with everything to do with our casino Edan.

Pulling a piece of paper from the top of a large pile, my brows raised with amazement as I read over the paper.

"Julius wants to spend a hundred million on oil refinement, and another half a billion in the construction of oil rigs." I said, reading the whole page.

Rose looked up from her own desk, giving me a raised brow, "That's a lot of money."

"Eh, for how much we would make back, it's actually quite cheap. I'm just surprised how many offshore rigs he's wanting to build." I said, writing my signature at the bottom of the paper.

"How many is he wanting to build?" Rosalie asked, turning in her chair to look at me.

"He's wanting to build close to a hundred. Having them spread across the world."

Before Rosalie could add her thoughts about that, the ring of the house's phone could be heard.

Turning our heads in the direction of the noise, we quickly looked at each other.

The phone rarely rang, and when it did it tended to be something bad.

Since Carlisle currently isn't working, Instead focusing on medical studies, there were only a handful of people who knew how to call us, and all of them would only call us if there was something important.

We could hear the approaching footsteps of Esme, then the clink of the phone being picked up.

"Cullen residence?" Esme said.

"Hello," an unfamiliar man's voice said, "Would the Greys by chance live at this residence as well?" the man asked.

"They do. I will get them now." Esme said, but as she turned we were already standing there.

She handed me the phone.

"This is Adam Grey?" I said, putting the receiver to my ear to listen.

"Hello Mr. Grey. I am Gregory Thomas, principal of Bellefontaine elementary," both Rosalie and I went dead still, Liam went to that school. He had started a year ago.

"I am calling to tell you that there was an accident at school today." Rosalie didn't wait to hear what else the man said, she blurred to the door grabbing her car keys along the way, "He was playing on the monkey bars when he slipped, breaking his right arm when he fell."

I nodded my head, turning at the roar or Rosalie's car tearing out of the driveway.

"Very well, we will be there soon to take him to the hospital." I said, hanging up the phone before the man could say anything else.

Making my way to the door, I passed Esme and Carlisle who had been listening to the conversation.

"We will be back as soon as possible." I said, opening the front door and quickly running after Rosalie's car.

We lived a handful of miles out of the town in a large two story house which Esme had designed, allowing me to catch up with Rosalie's car a mile from the house.

She was pushing the Cadillac to its limits.

Matching my speed with the car, I opened the car's passenger door, hopping in to keep myself from tripping.

Closing the door behind me, I turned to Rosalie.

"He's alright, Love." I said, leaning to the side as Rosalie passed a car.

She turned and looked at me, her eyes filled with a fire only a worried mother could have. "He broke his arm, but should be alright." I said, trying, and failing, to calm her.

Reaching the town limits I kept an eye out for any police as we raced through the narrow streets.

Thankfully it was an overcast day when we screeched into the school's parking lot, and stepped out.

I had to grab onto Rosalie's arm though when he walked to the school's front doors, Rosalie ready to blur inside, anyone who saw be damned.

Making it inside, we walked to the receptionist.

"We are here for our son, Liam Grey. we were told he was injured." The middle aged woman who sat behind the long wall to wall reception desk stared up at the two of us, her eyes slowly going wide in awe of the two of us.

"Miss?" I said, breaking her from her staring, causing her to jump slightly in her chair.

"O-Oh yes, sorry," She said with a small chuckle, "Let me take you to the nurses office." The woman said, quickly standing nervously.

Exiting a side door, she met us in the hallway outside the office, taking us further down the hall to an open door.

Stepping inside, we saw the small looking room, with Liam seated in a chair in front of a small table, his arm wrapped into a sling as he drew on a piece of paper with his left hand.

Rosalie ignored the nurse, instantly walking over to check on Liam, leaving me to talk with the nurse.

"From what I can tell, it was only a fracture and not a complete break," The young nurse said, picking up a clipboard from her desk. "The teacher watching the kids on the playground said she watched him fall from the monkey bars, hearing a loud crack as he hit the ground. He was crying when he got to me, but as I did an examination of his arm, he seemed to be alright." the nurse said, flipping through the pages on the clipboard, "I would recommend taking him to the hospital though for more tests just to make sure."

I gave the nurse a small smile, walking forward to kneel next to Liam who was talking to his mother.

"Hey Buddy," I said, getting his attention, "How's your arm feeling?" I asked.

"Much better," He said, giving me a wide smile, "At first it really hurt, but then it started to feel much better."

I slowly nodded, wondering, "Did you feel anything after you fell and hurt your arm?" I asked, curiously, "Like a tingling feeling and some popping?"

He instantly nodded his head, looking at me surprised, "I DID!" Liam said excitedly, "Then it stopped hurting! It was weird."

I smiled. This possibly confirmed what we had all hoped. Liam was like me.

He had never shown any signs that he would end up like me, getting cuts and scrapes like any young kid, which healed normally.

Then a thought struck me like a bolt of lightning. Was it possible he was always like me, growing stronger over time? His healing ability one of the things getting stronger the older he gets?
