Going back to the kitchen, Anna went to the sink to wash the dirty dishes in it. She let out a sigh of relief, thinking of what happened between her and Marcos.
She felt embarrassed by the way he pulled her at first and untied the ropes holding her dress. It was her first time a man had hold her like that. She had never been that close to a man before. What if Madam Charlotte had caught the both of them?
She knew Marcos was only helping her out but he should have given her the cream to apply herself. Madam Charlotte would have sent her back home if she had caught them in that position.
When his finger had first touched her back, she felt goose bumps began to form on her body.
Shaking the disturbing thoughts from her head, she continued washing the dishes to feel the presence of someone behind her.
Turning around, she saw Lucian standing there with a small smile.
"Good morning, Master Lucian." She quickly bowed her head.
"How may I help you?" She inquired.
"I need a cup of tea." He said to her and she nodded before rinsing her hand to make his tea.
"Marcos told me you would be going to the party with him, is that true?" He asked, leaning his back against the wall.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Seems like the both of you are getting closer with each passing day." Lucian said.
"You mean close like a Master would do to his servants? I am still getting familiar with everyone." She turned her gaze back to the tea that was on fire.
"I heard from Elizabeth that she would be shopping clothes in the market today and she wants you to go with her." Lucian muttered.
"I haven't seen her since last night. I only hope she's getting better." When the tea began to boil, she poured it into the cup before adding the milk.
Just then, Clara walked passed them and she winked at Lucian. He only waved at her before turning his gaze back to Anna.
She looked at Clara's neck and noticed the wound had turned fresh like as if the animal had bitten her again.
"Are you alright?" Lucian asked, noticing how she become calm.
"I am fine." She nodded. "It was just about the wound on Clara's neck."
"Wound?" Lucian asked as if the word was foreign in his ears.
"Yes. It looks as if she had injured herself. But then again it does not look like a common wound but an animal had bitten her. We are not just close, I could have asked her about it." Anna spoke.
"Ohh!" Lucian smiled, nodding his head. "I heard from the council that a strange animal had entered this town draining people's blood."
"Really?" Her face looked more serious. "I was just surprised on who could have bitten her but none of the maidens are allowed to go outside the Mansion at night."
"Yes but most of the female maids do have lovers outside the Mansion who they would spend their night with and return before the day breaks." Lucian tried to convince her that it was an animal attack. "She must have got bitten by the animal at night."
Anna was finding it hard to believe. "But she could have reported it to the council. I mean it would have given them enough proof on where the animal is."
At this, Lucian's expression turned cold. "You talk too much. You are just a maid here."
"I do?" She continued to mix the tea before handing it over to him.
"I would take my leave now. Remember to come take the tea cup later." He said and was about to leave when Anna stopped him.
"Forgive me, Master Lucian but I have one more question to ask. The other night when I saw her she was perfectly fine but then the next morning when she came out of your room, she looks tired and there was blood stains on her gown. The bite mark was fresh—"
Lucian paused in his steps before turning to look at Anna. "You remembered what happened that morning?"
"Why are you asking me such question?" Anna asked.
"I am just curious. Just to know if you actually remembered what happened that morning, do you?" He leaned closer to her. His black eyes watching her from above as if she was just a tiny grain.
Just before Anna could open her mouth to say she knew, the kitchen door opened and Marcos came in.
"Brother..... For a man like you to be in the kitchen." Lucian smiled. "What are you doing here?"
"I should be asking you same question." He sized him up. "I need to speak to you about something important."
"I was having a conversation with Anna before you came. If there is anything you want to tell me, then keep it for later." Lucian offered him a warm smile.
"I said I need to speak with you in private!" Marcos yelled making his brother to nod slightly before following him outside.
"Anna I will get back to you." He smiled at her before leaving with Marcos.
