Chapter 296 - Chapter 293

"An antipyretic injection? What is that?" Dahlia looked utterly confused, her eyes staring blankly at Lucas. It was the first time she had ever heard of an antipyretic injection.

"You'll find out soon enough." Lucas didn't bother explaining. Some medical terms from Earth were difficult to understand without prior exposure.

Taking the first-aid kit from Nicole, Lucas placed it on the nearby table, opened it, and retrieved several vials of medicine used to prepare the antipyretic injection.

"Catherine, does she have any other medical conditions?" Lucas asked Dahlia seriously while picking up a syringe. "For example, does she feel unwell when smelling flowers? Is she unable to eat eggs or seafood?"

He was asking about allergies. Antipyretic injections couldn't be administered carelessly—if the patient was allergic to the medication, it could be life-threatening, especially in cases of severe colds and fevers.

"Hmm... let me think." Dahlia frowned in thought, trying to recall if Catherine had ever shown any unusual reactions when they were together. She couldn't think of anything out of the ordinary.

"No, Catherine isn't allergic to flowers, and she can eat eggs and seafood without any issues." Dahlia confirmed.

"That's good!"

Lucas nodded, unwrapped the syringe, and picked up several vials of medicine, carefully drawing them into the syringe according to the instructions

.

For some reason, the scene sent a shiver down everyone's spine, filling them with an inexplicable sense of unease.

"Why are you all so nervous? It's not like I'm using this on you." Lucas rolled his eyes. Thinking back to how he used to react to injections… well… cough, cough!

"Young Master, what exactly are you doing?"

Annie tiptoed closer, her fox ears twitching as she curiously asked, "Why aren't you just giving her some pills like last time with Helen?"

"Helen's condition was different from this." Lucas gently pushed the plunger, forcing a few drops of liquid out of the needle tip, expelling any air bubbles inside.

"How is it different? Isn't it all just a fever?" Nicole pulled out her notebook, ready to take notes.

"Helen's fever was caused by a wound infection, but Catherine's is due to a viral invasion, leading to severe flu symptoms. The treatment is different." Lucas shook his head. "At this point, regular fever-reducing methods won't work anymore. She's already delayed treatment for too long."

"With this antipyretic injection, the fever will subside within a few hours. If we rely on physical cooling methods and oral medication, it'll take too long. At this rate, Catherine might not even hold out until the fever breaks—her brain could already be damaged by then."

"This is so complicated…" Nicole tilted her head, holding her pen uncertainty, unsure how to take notes.

"Forget the details for now. The priority is giving Catherine the injection." Lucas waved his hand dismissively, holding a cotton swab soaked in disinfectant in one hand and the syringe in the other.

"How do we… do this?" Dahlia cautiously asked, a bad feeling creeping up on her.

"You—pull down Catherine's pants a bit." Lucas walked to the bedside and instructed, "Expose one side of her butt so I can give the injection."

"..."

Silence.

Everyone's mouths formed an "O" shape as they stared blankly at Lucas, who looked completely unfazed.

They never expected him to say something so outrageous.

The very first thing out of his mouth was to pull down a girl's pants… and even expose her butt.

"Young Master, you must have misspoken, right?" Annie's eyes twitched, her fox ears drooping as if they had turned into folded ears.

"Young Master, saying it like that could easily be misunderstood." Nicole's eyes flashed with amusement as she glanced at Dahlia, whose face had turned bright red.

"N-No way! You pervert!" Dahlia swung her long crimson hair and stood firmly in front of the bed, arms outstretched protectively. "Catherine is a duke's daughter! How dare you try to violate her? The duke will never forgive you!"

"Pervert?" Freya lifted her wolf ears, blinking her ember eyes in confusion. Was that directed at her? But she had been quietly standing off to the side the whole time…

"Tap, tap, tap…"

Suddenly, Amelia stepped forward to the bedside, her cheeks faintly flushed. She looked up at Lucas and asked in a calm voice, "Looking at… a butt? Does that count as a price?"

"..."

Lucas's eye twitches uncontrollably.

What the hell was going on?!

All he wanted to do was give an injection!

How had their thoughts gone this far off track?!

And another thing—why was little Amelia getting involved in this nonsense?

She was making it sound like he enjoyed looking at people's butts! And since when did just looking count as a fair trade for a cost? What kind of equivalent exchange logic was that?

"Right! Young Master must have misspoken." Mina's eyes fixed on Lucas as she shuffled forward in tiny steps, tugging at his sleeve. She leaned close to his ear, her breath warm as she whispered, "Young Master, tonight, tonight…"

Never mind.

The cat-eared girl couldn't bring herself to finish. It was too embarrassing. Face burning red, she retreated in defeat. Her skin just wasn't thick enough for this.

"I swear, where exactly are you all going with this?!" Lucas rolled his eyes, exasperated. "I'm giving an injection! This is an antipyretic shot! I need to inject the medicine into her body so she can recover quickly."

As he spoke, he gestured with the syringe, finally realizing that his earlier phrasing—telling them to pull down her pants and expose her butt—was a bit misleading.

"Uh…" Dahlia was stunned. She glanced at Catherine, then back at Lucas, her expression twisting into one of reluctant understanding. "Can't you pick a different spot? Does it have to be the butt?"

"Yes. It's the safest and best area for absorption." Lucas nodded seriously, his tone firm. "We don't have time to argue. The injection needs to be given now, or it'll be too late."

Lucas didn't bother explaining what intramuscular injection meant. The gluteal muscles had fewer blood vessels, making them ideal for injection—allowing the medication to be absorbed into the muscle, then gradually entering the bloodstream while being processed by the liver.

Many drugs couldn't be injected directly into the bloodstream; otherwise, they could pose serious health risks.

But trying to explain all that would just confuse everyone even more. It was faster to just get the injection over with.

"..."

Dahlia was at a loss.

She couldn't help but wonder—if Catherine woke up and realized that a man had seen her bare butt, how would she react?

Sighing, she turned away, reached under the covers, and carefully flipped Catherine onto her side. Then, with slightly stiff movements, she tugged down Catherine's pants just enough to expose one side of her fair, delicate butt before stepping aside.

"Catherine, you can't blame me for this. It's to save your life."

Dahlia tried to comfort herself.

"Besides, compared to getting brain damage from a high fever… having someone see your butt just this once should be fine, right?"

Or maybe…

"Maybe we just don't tell her about this?"

"Ahem!" Lucas cleared his throat, keeping a serious expression as he disinfected Catherine's fair skin with the cotton swab. Then, he carefully inserted the needle, making sure it reached the muscle before slowly injecting the medicine.

A short moment later—

"Phew… All done!"

Lucas exhaled lightly, pulling out the syringe and pressing the cotton swab against the injection site. Once he confirmed there was no bleeding, he stood up.

As he turned around, he was met with an unexpected sight—

Annie, Nicole, and Dahlia were all clutching their own backsides with both hands, their faces filled with panic as they stared at the syringe in Lucas's hand.

"..."

What the hell were they so scared of?!
