Scene 12:-
Ext. Baseball Field,
Time: 4:00 P.M
The game starts off with James as a pitcher and Batsman 1 from the opponents' team. James starts off with a ball. The opponent leaves it. James pitches again and the opponent hits it to the gaps and runs towards 2nd base. Next comes the captain of the Mission High Baseball team, Wayne. James pitches a slider, Wayne hits it big and Caleb takes the catch!
James gains some confidence.
Scene 13:-
Ext. Baseball field,
After 5 innings, The score remains (Downtown High) 2-3 (Mission High)
Caleb comes to strike and his pitcher from the opponent team is Fastball specialist 'Floyd'.
He smirks at Caleb and tries to mess with his mind. He fakes a throw once, and then Caleb looks at the scoreboard and tries to calm himself. Floyd throws a ball straight at Caleb's helmet. Caleb ducks and lets the ball pass. The referee calls it a ball. Caleb hits the next ball big into the gaps and runs towards 2nd base.
Richard comes next. He misses three balls straight and gets struck out. That's 3 outs and Caleb misses his chance to score for his team.
Scene 14:-
Ext. Baseball field,
At the end of the 8th inning
The score is (Downtown High) 4-6(Mission High).
James who is already pretty tired will be substituted with a reliever. The reliever comes to pitch for the final innings. Captain Wayne comes to bat.
He checks the field and hits the first ball out of the ground for a home run.
The reliever then pitches 2 batsmen out,
For the last batsman, he pitches a curve ball, the hitter hits it towards a fielder and one of the fielders from Downtown High drops the catch.
The batsman runs towards the 3rd base.
Another batsman walks into the field. The reliever pitches a loose ball and the batsman hits it hard. Caleb runs as fast as possible and takes a one-handed stunner of a catch!
All the teammates run towards Caleb to appreciate him.
Scene 15:-
Ext. Baseball Field,
Time:- 6:45 P.M
Henry walks into the field to bat, the pitcher Floyd pitches lots of fastballs and Henry misses a few of them... When he's down to strike 2, for the next ball he hits it into the gap and runs to the first base.
Next comes Batsman 2 and he gets out in the second ball.
Batsman 3 walks in, hits the ball into the gap and Henry runs to the third base and Batsman 3 runs to the second base.
Batsman 4 comes in and he gets struck out.
Next comes, Caleb...
2 outs and only 1 out left.
Caleb walks in with a calm mindset.
Floyd pitches a wide ball, Caleb hits it and it falls before the run line. So, it's called off as a foul.
Floyd watches Caleb for a while and bowls a curve ball, Caleb leaves it. Strike-1
Floyd balls a fastball with which Caleb struggles and ends up missing it. Strike-2
One more strike and Downtown High will lose.
Caleb takes a deep breath and watches the field properly.
Floyd fakes a pitch again. Caleb gets mad but tries to remain calm. He gets into position again and watches the ball properly.
Floyd pitches a fastball and wide ball, Caleb hails it out of the ground and IT GOES FOR A HOME RUN! Caleb, Henry and Batsman 4 finish off their bases and Caleb jumps high!! Everyone from Caleb's team runs towards him and hug him!! He falls down.
Henry hugs him tightly and shouts "That's how we show them revenge!!!!!"
Caleb slowly gets up and walks up to Floyd and says "Well played bro." Floyd in disbelief
replies, "Thanks... You too."
Coach walks up to Caleb and hugs him in joy.
The cheerleaders do their victory dance and the band members start performing their victory theme of Downtown High.
Scene 16:-
Int. Downtown High Locker Room,
Time: 7:00 P.M
After the game, Caleb walks up to his locker to get changed into his casual outfit. Alone in the hallway, he will be taking his bag... When suddenly a beautiful girl with long hair and pretty eyes wearing a musical band dress, dashes into him. Both of them fall down, the musical books and papers of the pretty girl fall down and Caleb's maths book falls down as well. Caleb helps the girl to pick her books up. He watches her face as he picks up her books. She picks up her books and says
"Hey... Thanks a lot!! And I'm sorry for crashing into you... It's just that I'm in such a hurry that I just don't have enough time to walk there! My dad is going to kill me if I'm late... Anyway, I've already wasted a lot of time... Byeee!!"
Caleb smiles and waves to her... He turns back to walk back to the changing room, when suddenly... She calls him "Caleb!" He quickly stops and turns... He asks, "How'd you know my name?" She replies "Actually I took your maths book by mistake. Sorry!"
Caleb replies, "Oh... Uh... Okay. Thanks, I mean... Thanks for giving me back."
She replies, "It's fine... Gotta go! Byeee!"
Just when Caleb was about to ask her name... She runs away.
Scene 17:-
Int. Caleb's Home
Time: 9:50 P.M
At home during dinner time, Caleb and his parents sit with him at the dining table eating some salad. Caleb's dad speaks out, "So bud, how was your game day? You won?"
Caleb replies, "Yeah Dad... We won. I got the chance to score the winning runs."
Caleb's dad says, "That's great! So y'all are now officially qualified for the championship huh?"
Caleb replies, "Yep!"
Caleb's dad asks, "Okay, so what happened after the game? Did y'all celebrate?"
Caleb thinks of the accident and smiles to himself and replies, "Nope... Nothing, but we did enjoy the nailbiter."
Then Caleb finishes off his dinner and says, "Aight... I gotta sleep, Good night Mum and Dad!"
Caleb's Mom mockingly asks, "Since when did you start sleeping so early?"
Caleb's dad laughs.
Caleb exits the dining room and goes upstairs with a 'meh' face.
Scene 18:-
Int. Caleb's bedroom,
Time: 10:15 P.M
Caleb will be listening to music on his headphones while laying on his bed. He closes his eyes and quickly thinks of the game. Later, he thinks of the girl. He turns to the other side and tries to sleep. But, again he constantly thinks of her. After 'trying' to sleep for a while, Caleb turns on his phone and calls his friend Henry. Henry quickly answers his call and says "Hey man! What's up?"
Caleb replies, "Hey bro... I wanted to ask you about someone"
Henry asks, "What? Who? A girl?"
Caleb says, "Yeah... She was in a hurry... I couldn't even get to ask her name."
Henry asks, "Bruhh... Was she pretty? What are you thinking?"
Caleb quickly says, "No bro! I don't mean it in any different sense. I just wanted to know her."
Henry asks, "Well... Did you get to see her class? Section?"
Caleb replies, "Nope... But she was wearing a musical band dress... Looks like she is one of the band members."
Henry says, "Oh! Maybe then we can ask Natalie, she knows every band member from our school... Let me add her for a group call"
Caleb quickly rejects, "No!! I'll ask her myself."
He adds, "I'll meet you tomorrow man, thanks."
Henry says, "Bruh... Seriously? Alright fine. See ya tomorrow."
Caleb hangs up and quickly calls Natalie,
She picks up and says, "Hey Cal, what's up with you?"
Caleb says, "Hey Nat, sorry for disturbing you, I just wanted to ask about someone."
Natalie asks, "Sure, who is it?"
Caleb replies, "Actually, do you know any girl with long hair and pretty eyes from our music band?
Natalie asks, "Um... There are quite a few bro, Can you specify?"
Caleb replies, "Well... She left quickly yesterday, right after the game because of her... Father?"
Natalie asks, "Oh! Did you mean Emma?"
Natalie adds, "She was the only one from our band who left early because of her father. Her father's working night shifts dude. So she had to leave early."
Caleb replies, "Oh... Emma... Is it?"
Natalie says, "Yeah... Why do you ask about her?"
Caleb replies, "Nothing... She dashed into me after the game, so... I wanted to know who she was."
Natalie asks, "Uh huh? What's up with you? You ain't into her ... are you?"
Caleb says, "nah Nat... anyway, thanks! I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!"
Natalie, "Aight bro... Bye... G'night!"
Caleb hangs up and puts his phone aside.
He closes his eyes and says to himself, "Emma... Huh?" He then smiles to himself.
