Cherreads

Chapter 885 - It won't be you who becomes the Pirate King!

Eric's profession is a mercenary, and he can also be considered a bounty hunter, though most of the time, he takes on jobs from the Marines.

A Kamaitachi Human with the Paramecia-type Sickle-Sickle Fruit, capable of unleashing powerful wind blades from his fingers.

His sharp air blades can easily shatter rocks, moreover he doesn't need to charge up—if his hand speed is fast enough, he can release countless powerful air blades.

Of course, this ability has its drawbacks. While it raises the minimum power of his attacks, it also locks the maximum power of his attacks—no matter how much he charges up, he cannot increase the power of his air blades and can only enhance the overall attack power through sheer quantity.

He can release a large number of air blades to form an air blades tornado, but the power of each individual air blade does not increase.

Achieving a qualitative change is extremely difficult for him.

This kind of ability is quite troublesome in the East Blue, but for a Millennial Dragon that has battled in the New World, Eric's attacks were nothing more than a tickle.

No matter how strong or numerous an attack is, if it can't break through defenses, it's meaningless.

Caveman Fruit + Archeops Ability User, Ferren is one of the rare dual-ability users in the Beasts Pirates, not to mention that he also has the body of a Millennial Dragon.

From another perspective, Grandpa Ryu is like the old man at the village entrance who witnessed his father's birth and lived together with him for some time. Even though Ferren doesn't know him, they're still technically relatives. If you had to count it, he might even have to call Grandpa Ryu his "seventh maternal great-uncle."

Now that someone has sent the aging, powerless "seventh maternal great-uncle" back to his home, there's no need for Ferren to say anything—but offering a cup of water isn't a problem.

Letting these people understand the vast difference in power is more than enough for them.

He's not Kaido—he has no interest in lecturing people every day. Just giving them a glimpse of the real world is enough.

"You've been attacking for so long. Haven't you had enough?"

Eric's Sickle-Sickle Fruit essentially unleashes invisible wind blades. Since wind has no color, his opponents can usually only barely perceive the changes in the air's shape, making it difficult for many enemies to react in time to his attacks.

But Ferren was different—he didn't even bother predicting the attacks; he simply relied on his physical strength to take them head-on.

From an outsider's perspective, it looked like Eric was frantically waving his fingers while Ferren steadily closed the distance.

Sensing that the situation was turning bad, Eric turned around and ran, trying to create distance between himself and Ferren.

But with a single flap of Ferren's wings, he reappeared right in front of Eric.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Boom!

With a swing of his right fist, Ferren sent Eric flying. He crashed through several ruins of walls before finally coming to a stop.

"Sister Yamato, let me handle it. A guy like that only needs one hit."

Watching Ferren toy with Eric like a cat playing with a mouse, Page One grew impatient—there was no point in toying with such a weak opponent.

"Forget it, this is the Millennial Dragon's business. Letting them handle it themselves isn't a bad thing. Besides, Ferren isn't struggling against that guy. He probably just doesn't want this little girl to see anything too gruesome."

Yamato didn't think Ferren would run into any difficulty in a place like this; besides, the sounds coming from the ruins were getting quieter—what that meant was obvious.

"Heraaacross, Heraaacross~"

At this moment, Hercules was flying around Yamato, seemingly trying to tell her something.

"Oh? Sounds like you've been doing pretty well."

"You seem to be quite familiar with Hercules. It's never been this close with a stranger before."

"Of course! After all, it's a Heracross."

Whether it's the Power of Viridian or the uniqueness of her own identity, the first-generation Pokémon born on Onigashima have a special affinity towards Yamato. So, Hercules was complaining, and although Yamato hadn't shown it yet, some people were about to have bad luck.

It was also on this day that Luffy finally heard the name of Hercules' species from someone else. He had heard Hercules mention this word before, but he didn't have much understanding of this uniquely transliterated term. [TN: Pokemon's cry is their species name.]

Luffy was about to ask some questions about Hercules, but before he could ask, Ferren returned and interrupted him.

"He's been dealt with."

Carrying Grandpa Ryu, Yamato and the others headed towards Luffy's Going Merry together. Grandpa Ryu was now very weak, making it too strenuous for him to fly on his own. Additionally, Grandpa Ryu expressed desire to go to Lost Island with Apis, so Yamato and the others did not fly while carrying him.

Luffy, with his carefree nature, didn't mind this at all. Apis was entirely focused on Grandpa Ryu, while Usopp and Nami didn't notice anything unusual either, only feeling that the other party was very strong.

But Sanji and Zoro were different.

"Hey, pervy cook, that guy was gone for… what, less than three minutes?"

"Maybe even shorter. That Millennial Dragon…is too powerful. Eric didn't stand a chance. He probably didn't want Apis to see anything too brutal—otherwise, he might've just finished him off instantly. But…"

"But what?"

"Those two ladies are so beautiful!"

"You b*stard!"

Zoro and Sanji watched these unfamiliar people cautiously from behind, while Yamato continued chatting with Hercules. Meanwhile, Luffy and Usopp had latched onto Page One, asking how he pulled off such a cool transformation.

That kind of pure, genuine curiosity wasn't something that could be faked. Feeling satisfied with the attention, Page One took the opportunity to explain the classifications of Devil Fruits to them.

"There are three types of Devil Fruits. The one you ate is an ordinary Paramecia-type. Besides that, there's also the Logia-type and Zoan-type. I, on the other hand, have the extremely rare Mythical Zoan."

"So that's how it is… that sounds amazing…"

Some things can't be faked—like how you can instantly spot the naive gaze of a college student amidst a crowd who hasn't yet fully integrated into society. Right now, Luffy was exactly like that. He was acting just like an ordinary, starry-eyed fan.

They got along relatively well for the time being—until they reached the shore again.

"Oh, so you guys are pirates too."

"Yeah! Oh, right, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Luffy, and I'm the man who will become the Pirate King!"

That classic declaration came out of Luffy's mouth, but the only response he got was the laughter of Ulti and Page One.

"Alright, Pay-tan, Ul-chan, don't laugh. It's fine for people to have dreams. Even if they won't come true, we should still respect them."

Yamato didn't mock him, and her words weren't meant to be sarcastic, but the damage they dealt was no less significant.

"Hey! What makes you think I can't become the Pirate King?!"

"It's simple—because the one who's going to be Pirate King is my father."

This was the ultimate consensus among the Beasts Pirates. Whether it was Yamato, who wanted to overthrow her father, or Ulti, who dared to call Kaido an idiot to his face, they all shared the same belief: the next Pirate King would undoubtedly be Kaido.
