Wu Yuxuan didn't stop moving, his steps quick and deliberate as he glanced around, making sure no one saw them while heading straight for the elevator.
"I know," he muttered, "And yet you were planning to sit through the rest of that gala like it was nothing."
"When I had an allergic reaction, you panicked like I was going to drop dead. But now, you're acting like everything's fine while you're clearly going through the same thing."
Chen Lin frowned weakly, trying to argue, "I'm not having an allergic reaction. I didn't eat anything—I only had a bit of alcohol tonight. So it's not possible."
Wu Yuxuan let out a dry laugh, low and incredulous, "You don't have to eat anything to get a reaction, Lin. Do you even hear yourself right now?"
The elevator dinged open, and he stepped inside, carefully adjusting her in his arms as if she weighed nothing.
