Chapter 20 - "Price For War"

The air was thick with the stench of battle as the final clash with Rocks drew to a close. The battlefield was littered with fallen pirates and marines alike, the ground scorched from the overwhelming power of the attacks exchanged. After days of relentless fighting, we had finally cornered the infamous Rocks D. Xebec. His strength was undeniable, but in the end, even the most powerful of men must fall.

I stood over his defeated body, my breath heavy, as the remnants of the battle swirled around us. His once imposing figure now lay broken, his ambition shattered. Rocks, the man who had once sought to rule the world, was no more.

But the victory felt hollow. We had won, yes, but the cost was immeasurable. The battlefield was littered with the bodies of marines and pirates alike. It wasn't just the death of Rocks that marked this day—it was the end of an era. The balance of power was forever altered, and the repercussions of this battle would be felt for generations.

Kong, Sengoku, and the others approached, their faces grim but resolute. We had accomplished the impossible, but none of us could shake the feeling that we had only just scratched the surface of what was to come.

"You did it, Gojo," Kong said, his voice heavy with respect and exhaustion. "Rocks is gone, and so is the threat of the Rocks Pirates."

I nodded, but the weight of the moment pressed on me. "But at what cost?" I muttered, glancing around at the devastation. "We've lost too many... and I can already sense the instability this will bring."

Sengoku placed a hand on my shoulder. "We knew the risks, Gojo. But sometimes, a price must be paid for peace."

The battle was over, but the war was far from won. The world had been irrevocably changed, and the ripples of this conflict would continue to spread. The death of Rocks did not mean the end of piracy—it only meant the rise of new, more dangerous forces.

In the days that followed, the world news spread the word of our victory. The marines were hailed as heroes, and I was lauded as the "Undead Hero" who had single-handedly taken down the most fearsome pirate crew the world had ever seen. But even as the world celebrated, I couldn't shake the feeling that the shadows were only growing darker.

As I stood on the deck of my ship, looking out at the calm sea, I knew that the fight was far from over. The rocks may have fallen, but the seas would always be filled with pirates, revolutionaries, and those who sought to challenge the status quo. The balance we fought for was fragile, and I was the one tasked with holding it together.

My thoughts wandered to the future. The God Valley incident loomed on the horizon, and I knew that we would face even greater challenges ahead. There were more powerful foes out there—foes who would stop at nothing to achieve their goals, no matter the cost. And if we were to truly secure peace, we would have to fight harder than ever before.

But I was ready. For as long as I stood, as long as I drew breath, I would continue to protect the world and all that we held dear. The battle against evil was eternal, and I would never back down.

The world was changing, and the marines were the ones who would shape that change. And as the waves crashed against the shores of the islands, I prepared for whatever would come next.
