"From my explanation you should have already understood the reason behind many humans not being able to become mages and knights. This is because most people are born with closed or very weak meridian, which are unable to transport mana. This results in them being unable to awaken and become mages or knights in their lifetimes.
There is an exception to this though. Our world is boundless and contains lots of lucky chances for people to come across, with some that can turn a talentless person into a proficient mage or a strong knight. There exist some that can strengthen meridians, allow to breath underwater, increase strength, improve talent, and many more. You will get a chance to learn about such natural treasures in your biology class.
Now back to the topic, ummm, where was I? Right, if talentless people forcefully attempt to inject more mana into them than they usually possess and channel it through their meridians, then only death awaits them. With the current research and available resources, it is absolutely impossible to change this on even a small scale, as natural treasures, especially the ones that strengthen meridians are rare, and therefore expensive." Explained Miss Fairmont.
"I am so glad that I was born with good meridians, allowing me a chance to become a strong mage and a knight. If it was otherwise, I would have had to go and seek out a way to improve my meridians. Before disappearing, my father went into the forest to seek an opportunity to breakthrough, so I assume he was looking for some natural treasures. If I did not have the current talent, I would have had to give up my dream of recreating pool in this world and becoming the greatest player once again. Oh Lady Luck, I owe you one for this," thought Max after hearing about the fates of everyone without the talent.
"Now I will explain to you the differences between Mages and Knights, and why some can only become mages or knights, while a very few others can become both," Miss Fairmont began, her voice carrying across the room, capturing every ear. "Both harness the power of mana, but the way they use it differs significantly. It's like two different languages originating from the same linguistic family."
"Let's start with the Knights. Knights are the embodiment of internalized mana. They don't command the elements or cast outward spells. Instead, they channel their mana internally, enhancing their physical abilities and resilience. Knights are known for their formidable strength, speed, and endurance, all of which are amplified by the controlled flow of mana within their bodies. They are the swords in the darkness, the shields against the storm."
"Knights must master the delicate art of self-control, discipline, and endurance. By constantly strengthening and widening their meridians, they can channel more and more mana internally, making them increasingly formidable on the battlefield. They are not just warriors; they are guardians who protect those who cannot protect themselves."
She paused for a moment before continuing, "Now, let's turn our attention to Mages. Unlike Knights, Mages channel mana externally. They tap into the world around them, manipulating elemental forces according to their innate affinity. The most common affinities are to the four fundamental elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. But some mages have affinities to less common elements, such as Light, Darkness, and even Time and Space. In very rare cases, some mages may have an affinity with more than one element."
"Mages draw mana from their own bodies and the world around them, weaving it into spells through incantations and gestures. This requires a deep understanding of their element, the laws of nature, and the flow of mana. Unlike knights who stand at the front lines, mages are the artillery and strategists, using their spells to change the tide of a battle from afar. They are the whispers in the wind, the roar of the thunder."
Miss Fairmont paused once again, her eyes sweeping across the class to gauge their understanding, "To summarize, Knights are about internal power, physical enhancement, and resilience, while Mages focus on external manipulation of mana and control over elemental forces. One is the sword, the other is the sorcery. Both are essential to maintaining the balance in our world. Remember, there is no superiority between a Mage and a Knight; their roles are different but equally important."
"Now, the question arises – why can some individuals only manifest as a Knight or a Mage, while a select few can walk both paths? The answer to this is multifaceted and not as straightforward as one might think."
"Knights and Mages have distinct meridian structures. Knights possess interconnected, robust meridians that facilitate the efficient internalization of mana, honing their physical prowess. On the other hand, Mages have extensive and flexible meridians that allow for the manipulation and external projection of mana, crafting spells in accordance with their elemental affinities."
"However, certain individuals are born with a unique set of meridians that integrate these characteristics, accommodating both the robustness required for a Knight's internal mana control and the expansiveness that permits a Mage's external mana manipulation. But the ability to harness both these mana flows effectively is a task of monumental difficulty, demanding exceptional talent and rigorous training."
"But meridians only form part of the puzzle. Another, more complex factor comes into play – the soul. Each person is born with a unique soul signature. This signature can lean towards the path of the Mage, resonate with the Knight's trajectory, or strike a rare balance between the two. This harmonic equilibrium allows the potential development of both Knight's resilience and Mage's elemental control within the same individual."
"Understand that these soul structures and signatures, though fundamental to our magical capabilities, remain shrouded in mystery. The extent of our current knowledge is that it's the unique interplay between our meridian structures and soul signatures that determines whether we walk the path of a Mage, a Knight, or tread the challenging journey of both."
Her explanation was intricate, laying out the complexities of magic, from the basics of energy manipulation to the alignment differences between mages and knights. She elaborated on the different types of magic – elemental, transformative, restorative, and more – each with its unique properties and prerequisites.
As Miss Fairmont concluded her lecture, a hush settled over the classroom, the enormity of what had been discussed still resonating in the air. Every eye in the room was fixed upon her, reflecting varying degrees of understanding, astonishment, and excitement.
"That concludes our lecture for today," Miss Fairmont announced, her voice echoing through the now silent room. "I hope this discussion will serve as a foundation for your journey ahead. Remember, whether you become a Mage, a Knight, or are gifted enough to follow both paths, your dedication, resilience, and respect for the nature of mana will be crucial. Magic is not just about power, it's about understanding, wisdom, and the responsibility that comes with it. We'll continue this exploration of magic in our next session."
She gathered her notes and gave a final glance over the students, a proud smile playing on her lips. "Class dismissed."
Max watched as his classmates began to filter out of the room, their murmured conversations filled with curiosity, wonder, and anticipation. He sat still, staring blankly at his notes, his mind filled with swirling thoughts and revelations.
He had learned so much about the world of magic, about its intricacies and the daunting challenges that lay ahead. The path he was about to embark on was fraught with hurdles, but the thrill of the unknown and the desire to reach his goals overshadowed his fears. He was on the precipice of a grand adventure, a journey that was as exhilarating as it was daunting.
Max was so lost in his thoughts that he hardly noticed when the classroom was finally empty. His eyes remained fixed on the board, the words of Miss Fairmont echoing in his head. A slow, determined smile spread across his face as he gathered his things and made his way towards the door.
"Here's to the journey," he murmured to himself, stepping out into the hall and the future that awaited him. "Let's see where this leads."
