"Do you still expect a reward?" Caius asked.
The silver-haired man insisted on his point, which only he and Micah would understand.
Caius' tone may not sound harsh when he said that sentence out loud, but from Venera's point of view, it was no different from the calm before a storm. Thinking that Caius would punish Micah very soon, the little girl quickly tugged at Caius' shirt to try and turn his anger, which was only targeted at Micah, into something else. She should try to distract Caius at the very least.
"Brother, do not get angry at Brother Micah in front of others," the little girl said.
"What others?" asked Caius. He raised a brow in question.
"The palace maids around..." Venera's words trailed off when she looked at the surroundings.
It was empty.
In front of her was Micah, and the only other person she could see was Caius, who was holding her in his arms. Other than that, there was no one else. At least not as far as her eyes could see.
