Chapter 40 - Bang!

I'm back, not for long since I'm waiting for my college results but might as well update

---

"This is crazy work..."

Looking at the tear, he couldn't help but be reminded of a specific scene from a Spider-Man movie.

"How the hell am I gonna get myself out of this one now..."

Holding the projection of Yamato in his hand, Victor had an idea something he admitted was stupid of him to even consider.

"Now the Yamato could essentially cut through space... but how the hell was Vergil able to cut the tears in space that he made himself?"

Gripping the Yamato, he crouched low before leaping toward the tear, wings of projection spreading wide. His energy reserves were already down to forty percent.

"This copy better do wonders..."

But before Victor could even get close to the tear with his projection of Yamato, he was tackled midair by Muzan, who radiated an aura eerily similar to that of the tear in the sky.

"You're too late, you ignorant buffoon!"

Muzan surged with energy, sinking her teeth into Victor's hand the same hand holding Yamato and ripped it off as both of them were dragged through the star-shaped tear.

Instead of the burning sight of the ruined Japanese village, they were met with the sprawling view of a medieval city bustling with multiple races walking the streets.

"That isn't very nice..."

Victor immediately triggered his devil form as they both descended. To avoid casualties, he slammed Muzan in the jaw and used his wings to propel them toward a less populated area, the slums.

BOOM.

"Do you really think you can kill me? I've achieved something far stronger than the original Muzan!"

As Muzan was pinned down, Victor began radiating a bright light. Star-like fissures opened around them, and from them poured demons, not just any demons, but true demonic entities in their primal forms.

"Oh, you piece of shit..."

The demons attacked like wild animals, clawing and biting as they emerged. Thought the portal, a figure clad in black-purple armor with wings observed the chaos with curiosity. His eyes eventually settled on Muzan before he focused his attention back on the one armed figure charging towards him.

As more demons came flooding in, Muzan suddenly closed the fissures. The once-empty slums were now crawling with hundreds of demons in all shapes and sizes.

"So tell me, Victor... are you going to let me go, or are you going to go save the innocent?"

Muzan believed Victor still clung to the idea of heroism. He had gone out of his way to save villagers and Dororo. Though he failed to save Hyakkimaru, he still tried.

Now Muzan presented a dilemma, let him go, or save countless innocents before the demon horde reached the city.

"Nice try, jackass."

But Victor had never been a hero. He didn't have Dante's sense of duty. He didn't know these people and helping them wouldn't benefit him at all.

Earlier, he'd helped the refugees escape the hordes only out of guilt for running. But now? He didn't know if it was clarity or just the influence of his devil trigger, but all he could think about was tearing Muzan to shreds.

For the first time in his life, he gripped his fist, raised it, and slammed it down on Muzan's head, shattering it. The impact carved a crater five hundred meters wide.

BOOM!

BOOM!

With each punch, Victor's infernal flames radiated, burning everything in the vicinity demons and Muzan alike. Muzan tried to regenerate, tried to pull away, but Victor didn't let up.

BOOM!

BOOM!

Muzan reached up to shove him off but Victor ripped his arm off and kept going.

BOOM!

BOOM!

It was a one-sided slaughter.

But Muzan wasn't done.

Another fissure opened, massive and unstable, enveloping the entire city. From the other side, a three-headed golden dragon roared as lightning surged around it. It tried to pass through.

Tried.

"You think this is enough to stop me?"

Victor grabbed Muzan by the throat and flew up, breaking the sound barrier as he ascended. His devil trigger began to change growing more aggressive, more unstable.

Like a living missile, Victor slammed Muzan through the chest of the dragon ripping through its guts before ascending even higher. He had one goal now, throw Muzan into the sun.

Elsewhere, teams of scientists watched everything unfold through drones. They were relieved they no longer had to deal with the threat they identified as Ghidorah, but now they were terrified of the two figures who emerged from the star-shaped portals.

Victor was nearly out of Earth's atmosphere when a portal opened then-

BANG!

A fist connected with his face.

This one wasn't normal it tore through his neck, exposing his spine. Victor regenerated, but not before he and Muzan plummeted back down, his devil trigger vanishing as they re-entered the atmosphere through the same portal

"Is that Goku and Vegeta!?"

Before he could react, Muzan impaled him through the chest and opened another portal. They crashed into a high-tech city, intercepting a black metal colossus just as it was about to kill a small child-like figure.

The impact obliterated the black metallic figure as they crashed through buildings before Victor was thrown off. Muzan rose with a dozen twisted appendages erupting from his back.

"Let's settle this, you persistent worm. No flashy forms. Just you and me."

Victor stood across the battlefield, looking at Muzan like he'd lost his mind.

"Now why in the hell would I do that?"

Muzan laughed. "Because if you don't, I'll overclock the next fissure. Tear this universe wide open. Let things in even I can't beat. Then you won't be dealing with just me. You'll be dealing with them."

Victor didn't respond right away.

He stood in the middle of the ruined office floor, blood dripping from his lip, chest heaving, Yamato's projection flickering in his hand like a dying flame. Muzan crouched across from him, body twitching with rage, regeneration barely keeping up with the attacks he had received

"You act like you're in control," Victor muttered, wiping blood from his chin.

"But you're just winging it you can tear open space, sure. But you're letting things you can't even name crawl through. You're not a god."

Victor began walking towards him as he entered his Devil trigger

"You're just a jackass with a can opener."

Muzan's eyes twitched, the veins on his face bulging as another fissure opened behind him. This one was violent unstable. Like a wound forced open by brute strength. Eldritch winds poured through, bringing with them whispers that weren't words.

"I don't need to be a god!" Muzan screamed. "I just need the right monsters to walk through!"

Tentacles. Eyes. A limb that bent the wrong way. Whatever it was, it was close to slipping through.

Victor grinned as he gripped Yamato as it radiated energy.

"Yeah, cool. Except they're not your monsters."

He charged.

Both fighters leapt into the air, slamming into each other. They were in freefall now, smashing into the side of a building and running across it mid-fight, glass shattering beneath their feet with each blow. Yamato in Victor's hand, clashed with Muzan's formed claws as sparks flew around

They jumped off the side of the tower mid-swing, colliding midair again. Muzan's appendages lashed around Victor like whips, wrapping around his torso.

"You're slipping, Victor! You're losing your edge!" Muzan tightening the grip tried to crushed Victor

Victor didn't flinch. He grabbed the tendrils with both hands and yanked, pulling Muzan closer until their foreheads slammed.

"I've never had an edge that's the whole poin you jackass!"

He stabbed Yamato's projection straight through Muzan's ribs and sliced upward, tearing through his collarbone and flinging him toward the next rooftop like a ragdoll.

They both landed hard. Muzan rolled, snarling, regenerating like something rabid, before leaping back into the fight.

Victor met him mid-swing.

Buildings shattered. Light warped around them as the projection of Yamato reacted to the sheer spatial damage being done. Every slice left afterimages slashes in space echoes of attacks that hadn't even happened yet.

People from the ground watched their clashed barely keeping up.

"Find David we gotta get out of this place before these psycho's kill us!"

Back to the fight Muzan dodged a hit, barely, but the second echo caught him. A rip in space grazed his side, warping his flesh.

"You're breaking this world,"

Victor said as with his voice flat

"And I'm not saving it. I'm just making sure you don't walk away from it!"

They clashed again, hard enough to send them flying in opposite directions. The portal above twisted, now wide enough for an eldritch eye to peer through.

And it was looking right at them.

Victor through Muzan at the portal before he gripped the Yamato in a stance he felt familiar with.

And in the next second every portal around them began to close as Victor made an arch of demonic energy through the Yamato closing each fissure, and Muzan was caught with the blast slicing him through shreds as he was thrown into the portla of Eldritch entity.

"Jackpot."
