Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Head Pat?

The wings that extended through the bars were much smaller than her father's wings, and the mana they contained seemed to be of lesser quality. But still, it was Crimson Dragon's mana.

If he absorbed it and stored it in the First Wing Pillar (core) or the Third Wing Pillar (ranged attack), then Yila would have the power to break out of the half-plane prison and massacre his way from the heart of Demon King City to other countries.

Yila needed some time to figure out what the Lolita Dragon Lady Demon Lord named Satan Ye was thinking, but before that, he had already placed his hand on her wing without hesitation.

*How should I put it?*

*Yila was not a protagonist from a light novel; even if he had to define himself, he would definitely be the main character of a Western fantasy novel. He didn't like to waver and do meaningless things.*

*When meat is delivered to his mouth, it should naturally be bitten off...at least, a mouthful~*

"Relax, don't resist."

Following Yila's instruction, Satan Ye indeed showed no sign of resistance. She allowed her scarlet mana to flow away from her wings in an instant, traveling up Yila's right arm and settling in his spine.

*"Heh...haha...hahaha..."*

Unable to contain his laughter, Yila withdrew his hand and, while laughing, looked at Satan Ye's *"Huh? It's over, doesn't hurt?"* expression and said, "I really can't understand the thoughts of kids these days."

But almost the instant he finished speaking, Yila realized something...

"Ah, interesting, you're not stupid or naive."

Yila said this as he felt the power surging within his body, comfortably standing in the prison and saying, "Because you know, I will no longer be entangled with monsters... because I no longer belong to the empire."

Previously, every word Satan Ye had said to Yila was to test his attitude towards the empire and his degree of hatred towards monsters.

This decision was a gamble on Satan Ye's part. She was betting... whether Yila, abandoned by the empire, would, after regaining his power, cause trouble for the empire, giving monsters more breathing room.

"What's with that expression?"

Yila spoke casually, feeling a little chatty now that his life was secure. He said, "As expected, you really don't understand Governors at all... It must've been tough for you to hold out this long."

"A so-called Governor, after seizing the core mana of a monster, can appear to the World Tree in the form of that monster, gaining sufficient mana for battle. While we usually kill monsters, it doesn't necessarily mean we have to."

Satan Ye wasn't interested in listening to Yila talk about Governors anymore. To Yila, this made her seem adorably foolish because there was a Chief Governor kindly offering her intel.

All along, due to Yila's perfect strategic arrangements, the monsters had never successfully captured any Governor, not even once... Ah, wait, Yila might be the first.

"What do you plan to do next?"

As Satan Ye asked, Yila lightly squinted his eyes and said, "Just as you thought, I'll cause some trouble for the empire's nobles... big trouble."

In other words, Yila was now very angry, the kind of anger that disdains strategizing between monsters and humans, not caring whether Satan Ye intended to use him to weaken humanity's strength.

"I might go to the Elves. If you're worried about your people's losses, have the monsters along my route stand down... First Wing Pillar·Crimson Dragon·Wing Spread!"

As Yila said this, the Rune Bond on his neck instantly activated the mana in his spine. The scarlet heat was released from his arm in a flash, melting the shackles made of Forbidden Magic Stone.

"Ugh..."

Since the mana borrowed from the World Tree was in Satan Ye's name, while Satan Ye was still alive, the World Tree would directly make her return this part of the magic power.

The sensation of magic power being drawn out was certainly unpleasurable.

"I no longer have 'my people.' Do what you do best all the way..."

Seeing the slightly sad look in Satan Ye's eyes as she said this, Yila could more or less guess what she meant by "no longer have my people"— perhaps most had defected?

"Your subordinates... no, your father's old subordinates did not remain loyal to you after you took over his position—you faced betrayal, just as I was betrayed by the empire."

Speaking indifferently to Satan Ye, Yila saw her silent nod, confirming his guess. He lightly twisted his neck and said, "You might not believe this, but I don't really like killing monsters..."

Although Yila had killed far too many monsters in his lifetime, this didn't stop him from saying such words. After all, "liking" and "duty" were different things.

The Demon Lord named Satan Ye in front of him truly fascinated Yila...

Most of her subordinates had chosen to rebel, yet she still decided to take such a huge gamble just now. She might not understand Governors, but she must have known she could very well die.

Even so, she wanted to buy more time for the Demon clan. Even from a human... no, from the empire's standpoint, Yila couldn't help but admire Satan Ye's thinking.

Of course, Yila was overthinking it because, in reality, Satan Ye's real thoughts were likely something like *"No one listens to me anyway!"* or *"The Demon clan is probably doomed! Time to gross out the empire!"* or *"Ah! Chaos it is!"*

"Go on, kill as you wish along the way."

As Satan Ye spoke, she waved her hand to unlock the prison door, even though she knew it was pointless since Yila now possessed the power to easily break through this half-plane.

"Though you might regret it when I say this..."

Yila walked out of the iron-barred door of the prison, stood in front of Satan Ye, reached out to her, and said, "For certain reasons, the empire was not planning to penetrate deeper into your territory... future battles will be more passive or even cease altogether."

Facing Yila's outstretched hand, Satan Ye gently closed her eyes, unsure of what he intended to do...

*Rub rub*

Satan Ye's eyelashes fluttered as she opened her eyes in astonishment. She saw Yila earnestly ruffling her hair, messing up her silky black locks... Although it felt warm, Satan Ye still couldn't grasp the situation.

"You are interesting and cute... Little ones are indeed the cutest when they're young. Once they grow up, they have their own thoughts, leaving us unsure of what to do…"

Yila sighed as he said this, feeling nostalgic.
