Chapter 6 - chapter 6 The Angel’s First Mistake

Vaibhav had broken a sacred law on his very first day on Earth.

He had revealed his true form to a human girl — though he wore the appearance of a man, the magnificent wings spread behind him betrayed what he truly was.

According to the ancient laws of angels, no celestial being was allowed to expose his wings to any human. Yet Vaibhav had shattered this rule in the urgency of saving her life.

Cradling her gently in his arms, he soared high into the sky, back to the mountain's summit where it had all begun.

As they landed, Vaibhav carefully placed the girl down.

In a soft, trembling voice, she looked up at him and whispered,

"Have you come to save me? Are you... God?"

Hearing her innocent question, Vaibhav's mind raced — he realized his mistake. In his rush to save her, he had forgotten to hide his wings.

Now she could see him.

And if Heaven found out, punishment would be swift and severe.

But Vaibhav remained silent — he was an angel of few words, preferring action over speech.

His mind whirled, searching for a way to undo his mistake before it was too late.

Before he could think further, the girl, with a bright, childlike smile, reached out and cupped his cheek with her delicate hand.

"You're real," she breathed, wonder shining in her eyes.

At her touch, a flicker of irritation crossed Vaibhav's face. He hated being touched. Instinctively, he brushed her hand away, locking his piercing blue gaze onto hers.

Yet the girl only giggled sweetly, unfazed by his coldness.

"Oh, you're shy! That's okay. I like talking," she said brightly. "You know, I've never seen anyone like you in my whole life. Maybe God is finally answering my wish... I always wanted to see an angel. And now..." — her voice trembled — "now I can leave this useless world with my dream fulfilled."

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced a brave, innocent smile.

Before Vaibhav could process her words, she turned and walked toward the edge of the mountain — ready to throw herself off again.

Alarmed, Vaibhav acted without thinking. He grabbed her wrist and yanked her back —

so hard that she stumbled into him.

They were now so close that she could see every fleck of color in his mesmerizing blue eyes.

For a moment, she stood frozen, completely lost in his gaze.

Vaibhav's own eyes flashed with power. Without a word, he cast a soft enchantment, and the girl collapsed into unconsciousness against his chest.

Holding her gently once more, Vaibhav closed his eyes and focused.

He reached into her memories, trying to understand her pain.

What he saw tore at even his divine heart.

The Memory:

The scene unfolded — a much older man grabbing the girl from behind, his intentions vile.

She struggled, trying to scream, but he clamped a hand over her mouth.

She fought back, trying to push him away, but he was too strong.

Then, suddenly — Neel appeared.

Neel's face burned with fury. With a burst of supernatural power, he threw the man violently backward.

The man tumbled down a flight of stairs, his head cracking loudly against the steps. He lay there crying in pain.

Seeing him injured, the kind-hearted girl — Manya — rushed to help.

But before she could reach him, a woman — her elder sister — came running.

The woman shoved Manya away, cradling the injured man.

"My love, my darling, what happened?" she cried, frantic.

Through feigned tears, the man said,

"She tried to force herself on me... I refused her. I told her I'm her brother-in-law, that it's wrong. But she got angry and pushed me down the stairs."

The woman's face twisted with rage.

Without giving Manya a chance to explain, she slapped her — hard.

"I should have never taken you in!" she screamed. "I knew you were trouble. I should have left you to rot as an orphan!"

Manya fell to her knees, her face burning from the slap, her heart shattered.

Through tears, she begged,

"Sister, please... believe me. I would never do something so shameful. I have no one else but you. Please don't throw me away..."

But her pleas fell on deaf ears.

The woman, filled with anger and betrayal, dragged Manya to the door, shoved her outside, and slammed the door in her face.

"Get out! Go die if you want, but never show your face here again!"

Staggering into the street with nothing but her flute, Manya wandered, sobbing.

Her whole world had collapsed.

Neel followed her silently, his own eyes brimming with tears, powerless to comfort her.

Vaibhav opened his eyes slowly, still holding the unconscious girl — Manya — close to him.

Now he understood everything.

She was the one whom Neel had once loved — the broken, betrayed soul Vaibhav had been sent to save.

And somehow, he knew — his life would never be the same again.
