She left without waiting for my response. Not that I had one, I don’t think.
Maybe she knew that, too. Maybe she could sense something in me that I couldn’t myself—she always had a habit of doing that, of knowing me more than I knew myself.
I felt my grip on the wooden table in front of me become stronger, stronger, stronger still until the wood snapped beneath me and the table broke in two. I watched helplessly as it cracked and fell to the ground. I felt so much similar to the table in front of me, so broken and weak. How had I become this weak?
