Jasper stood at the grand entrance of their estate, his sharp gaze fixed on the carriage awaiting Nicole. The horses neighed softly, their breaths visible in the crisp morning air. The sky was a gentle shade of blue, with soft clouds drifting lazily above. It should have been a peaceful morning, but Jasper felt anything but at ease.
Nicole, dressed in a simple yet elegant gown, adjusted the cloak draped over her shoulders. She could feel Jasper's unease radiating from him, though he hadn't spoken much since she mentioned her trip to Lilith.
"You don't have to go," Jasper muttered, his voice edged with tension. His hands were tucked into the pockets of his coat, his posture rigid.
