Jake calmly broke the limbs of the Wendigo King, drawing a cry of pain from the creature. He knew it wouldn't last long—Wendigos, like vampires, possessed rapid regeneration, though at a slower rate.
He waited patiently, giving the Wendigo time to recover from the spinal damage and broken limbs. Jake understood the nature of lower-ranked Wendigos. With their leader immobilized, their instincts would push them to tear him apart and fight for dominance. Letting that happen would be a waste.
'This one's the strongest of them all. I can't afford to lose such a valuable asset over something as stupid as pride,' Jake thought, scanning the surrounding ruins for signs of movement, making sure no wendigo tried to sneak away while he waited.
After a short while, the Wendigo King stirred, then rose to his knees before Jake.
"Thank you for saving me. From now on, I will obey your commands," the Wendigo said. "My name is Sikee."
