Chapter 8 - Leaving the island

Eight Months Later

For the past eight months, Alex had been training under Master Roshi, wearing a 20-kilo turtle shell on his back. Once he got used to it, the weight was increased to 40 kilos.

Now, standing on a cliffside with Krillin, he watched the sun slowly sink below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple.

"I'll miss this place," Alex said, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia.

"Me too," Krillin replied, gazing at the sunset.

After a moment of silence, Alex smirked and stood up. "Hey, how about a spar? Now that I've trained, I'm sure I can do better than last time." He unstrapped his turtle shell and let it drop to the ground with a heavy thud.

Krillin grinned. "Alright, you're on." He took his stance without even bothering to remove his own shell.

Alex didn't hesitate. "Here I come!" He launched himself forward, throwing a punch straight at Krillin.

Krillin crossed his arms to block, sliding back slightly from the force. Alex followed up with a barrage of punches, attacking as fast as he could. Krillin, however, effortlessly dodged or blocked each strike, his movements smooth and controlled.

Frustrated, Alex threw another punch, but Krillin ducked underneath, grabbing Alex's arm with both hands.

"Hup!"

With a swift motion, Krillin flipped Alex over his shoulder, slamming him onto the ground.

BAM!

Before Alex could react, Krillin jumped into the air and came down with his knee aimed at Alex's stomach.

Acting on instinct, Alex rolled out of the way just in time.

BOOM!

Krillin's knee struck the ground, kicking up dust.

Alex wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Man, I sure am lucky I avoided that."

Krillin smirked. "Nah, I was just holding back and gave you enough time to move."

Before Alex could respond, Master Roshi's voice interrupted them.

"Let's go, boys! It's time to leave this island!"

Krillin sighed and helped Alex up. "Guess that's it for training."

Alex nodded. "Yeah... for now."

Back at Kame House

As they arrived home, Master Roshi turned to them. "Unfortunately, there's no news about the World Martial Arts Tournament yet."

Later that night, during dinner, Roshi looked at Alex. "Now that your training is over, what do you plan to do next? You're welcome to stay here if you'd like."

Alex took a moment to think. "I was planning to head to Korinn Tower for my next challenge. After that, maybe travel the world."

Roshi raised an eyebrow. "Got it all planned out, huh? Well, before you go, I want to show you something."

He walked toward the shoreline, setting down his cane. Taking a deep breath, he suddenly tensed his muscles, bulking up, and cupped his hands together.

"Now, behold my greatest creation—Kamehameha!"

A blinding blue energy wave shot from his hands, tearing through the ocean as if splitting it in half.

Alex's eyes widened.

Roshi turned back, grinning. "Took me 50 years to invent and master that. Think you could learn it in half that time?"

Alex smirked. "Half the time? Please—I'll learn it even faster."

Roshi laughed. "Confident, aren't you?"

They headed inside for the night.

The Next Morning

Outside Kame House, Alex stood beside Master Roshi and Krillin, preparing to leave.

"Here," Roshi said, handing Alex a bright orange uniform with the Turtle School emblem on the back and chest. "Since you're officially one of my students, this is for you."

Alex took it with a smile. "Thanks, Master Roshi."

After changing into the uniform, he admired the fit. "It's pretty comfortable."

Krillin patted his back. "Be careful out there, buddy."

Alex nodded. "You too, Krillin." Then, turning to Roshi, he pointed at the turtle shells stacked nearby. "Hey, Master Roshi, mind if I borrow one of those?"

Roshi smirked. "Bang!" He dropped a shell in front of Alex. "Take your pick. I have a closet full of them in different colors."

Alex chuckled. "Nah, this one's fine."

As he strapped it on, he crouched, preparing to fly away—

"WAIT!" Roshi shouted.

Alex froze. "Huh?"

"No flying!" Roshi said, wagging his finger. "You won't get any stronger if you just fly everywhere. Walk, run, swim—whatever it takes, but no shortcuts!"

Alex blinked. "Wait… you're not serious, are you?"

"I'm dead serious," Roshi said with a smug look. Hehehe, sometimes I amaze even myself with my genius.

Alex groaned. "Well… if it'll make me stronger."

With that, he jumped into the water and started swimming toward the mainland.

"See you guys later!"

A Few Days Later

Alex was running through a vast wasteland, the weight of the turtle shell on his back making every step a challenge.

Suddenly, he heard a scream.

"HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME, PLEASE!"

He turned toward the voice.

A blonde-haired girl was running for her life, a massive T-Rex right behind her.

Alex quickly ran up beside her. "Hey there, need any help?" he asked casually.

The girl shot him an incredulous look. "Are you serious?! There's a T-Rex behind us! If you have a capsule with a vehicle, take it out now!"

ROOOAAARRR!

The T-Rex roared, its massive jaws snapping toward them.

Alex stopped running. "Well, I don't have a capsule… but I do have another idea."

Unstrapping the turtle shell, he spun around and hurled it at the dinosaur with all his strength.

BOOM!

The shell slammed into the T-Rex's jaw, sending it crashing to the ground—completely unconscious.

Alex dusted off his hands. "Well, that was easy."

He turned to the girl, only to see her gawking at him like he was some kind of monster.

"I-Is it dead?!" she stammered.
