If I was supposed to understand what was happening, I was failing.
What kind of test was this? It didn't feel like one. Assuming all of this happened, I couldn't change it. All I could do was relive it, and what was the point of that? Wasn't the fae trials supposed to be a trial? Why did it feel like it was helping me with remembering my past?
What if that's what it was doing?
It still didn't make sense. Why show me my first incarnation and things that happened as a toddler? Were they connected? Or was everything here random? I doubted it was simple, but this was bizarre, even for me.
However, in the chaos of what I'd seen, something tied the ancient past to the more recent one: the pack—not just any pack, but the original one.
