Chapter 34 - AG

Khai looked at the blood on his face and he took his hands and smeared it slightly. His eyes glinted slightly when he saw him reflection. From the shadows, Mae stepped out and was prepared to dress the second prince's wounds when he shook his head.

"It's fine," he muttered, "Leave it as it is."

Mae glanced at the bandage that she had in her hands. He was going to find 'her' again.

Freia heard something. She was just about to tuck in when her ears perked up. Cautiously, she moved to her room's door and was about to move away when she heard a sound. She summoned furball and opened the door barely an inch. No one, her eyes looked around the hallway. She paused when she saw someone on the floor who was leaning against her door.

Not him again, Freia thought with a frown. At the rate he's going, her room should be operating as a 24-hour clinic. She should really start charging him even, she thought as she did some mental sums to figure out how lucrative that would be.

Khai groaned in pain when he realised that Freia was about to close the door on him. Sighing loudly, she opened the door and half carried him in. Her eyes widened when she noticed the blood on the side of his cheeks. There was a thin line - finger nails? She wondered, which lady's wrath did he incur? She thought and then squashed that thought just as quickly as it had surfaced. Nah, he probably fell.

"I fell while I was practising for the upcoming match," he was referring to the Mystical Beast competition. She counted the months in her head and realised that it was indeed just right around the corner.

"You're too clumsy, you should really pay attention to your surroundings. Most importantly, you can't keep running....," Freia was about to say 'to me' when Khai gave her a wounded look. She sighed deeply, "It's fine, my place has tons of medication I suppose. Just pop by anytime you feel like it," Freia added lamely as she tried to assure herself that she was adding some Samaritan points to her social cred. Khai brightened considerably.

Her heart gave a lurch. She would never see this expression on Kai, ever. Yet, Khai did it, effortlessly.
