As it turned out, everyone returned to the academy in their uusal fashion and everything came alive once again. Struggling to soothe a headache amidst the raucous chatter, Freia glanced to her right. Her "buddy" who had been sticking to her the entire period was seated beside her. He gave her a sideward glance beneath his veiled mask and a mild cough. The usual suspects, Rola and her girl gang looked in her direction and they nudged each other before settling into smug smirks.
"Looks like ugly and weakling has gotten together during the break," Rola said to the group's leader, Princess Reina who was the King's beloved daughter which led to her ruthless and callous ways.
If her headache was anything mild, it was throbbing at this point. Freia sensed danger - not a difficult element to settle. However, the Princess element was just a..... little disadvantagous to her. Freia bit her lower lip thoutfully for a few seconds and decided it wasn't too much of an issue- especially given who she is. She wasn't a top assassin for no reason! Not realising she had a smirk on her face, she jumped a little when Khai waved his hands in front of her to get her attention.
"Huh?"
"You were in a daze and you had this happy smirk on your face," he tried to mimic her and she realised how silly she looked earlier. Turning pink, she straightened herself and looked at him, "Yes?"
"We're partners for the next 'dodge and hide' challenge," Khai said lightly. His voice sounded wispy and faint. Almost as though he were running out of breath.
"Dodge and hide?" her eyes brightened. Khai really meant it as the annual hunt where players were placed to pit against each other in a "friendly competition".
Things have been known to go awry. However, there have also been known instances where these "incidents" simply disappeared in body bags.
Freia looked at Khai, "You're sitting out - I suppose?" she looked a little too hopeful which triggered a reaction from Khai.
"I suppose.. I'll participate since I'll have you as my partner," he uttered coolly and unfazed. Freia's jaw loosened a little but she nodded her head firmly, "Right, you're certain about this?" she asked once more. Her eyes were fixated on Khai's lips as she waited for him to say otherwise - that he would not be participating. That it was a moment's folly. However, those red lips only parted to say, "But of course. Haven't I mentioned that before? Ill go wherever you go." His eyes were fastened on her and Freia finally tore her gaze away from him.
She must be crazy! Did she spot Khai giving a rather pleased smirk. Why did that slight smirk remind her so much of...Kai?
And most importantly, how was she going to carry an additional load on her back!
