Chapter 5 - D...

The carriage came to an abrupt stop and Freia's eyes darted open immediately. Her eyes studied her new environment and she made mental notes to take note of all the exits.

"Wow, mother, this academy is amazing. Right, Celia?" Rola turned to look at her older sister who just exited the carriage. Freia was made to stand with the servants as she observed her two step sisters from the side. Rola was pretty but Celia something else altogether, she was out of this world beautiful. She had an ethereal air to her and all the students who had seen her couldn't help but gape.

"Stop drooling. Let's go, and, carry this, Freia," Rola dropped her luggage in front of Freia. She half expected Freia to put up a fight but Freia remained silent.

Freia lifted it with her pudgy hands and followed obediently without a word. She searched her memory - in the past, the "Freia" that existed before her would have argued vehemently with Rola. She would have even pushed the luggage back to Rola. Basically, she was the kind who would make a big fuss out of everything too - just to prove her point.

Freia sighed, poor girl, the original owner of this body must have led a really tough life. She had lost her mother when she was really young, and her father had remarried her stepmother Lady Fie who came with two step sisters and a step brother. She remembered Freia to be a pretty good looking young girl, at least her brith mother wasn't shabby.

So, what exactly happened to Freia? She could guess... but she would still love to search for the answers to this entire mystery.

Why was Freia ostracised?

How did her mother die?

Why was she so severely neglected by her father? Where was her father? In her memories, she mostly only saw his back - most of the time, he was travelling to other places and leaving her behind.

It became worse when her mother died mysteriously when she turned 8. Since then, she had never really seen or heard from her father at all. And when she turned 10, that was when he brought Lady Fie and her children from her previous marriage over to their house.

And after that, it was just chaos and silent suffering on her part.

Did her father really not know or is truly unaware about any of he bullying that was taking place?

Was he so negligent of his daughter that he could overlook all the bruises and ill-treatment?

She knew Lady Fie was an expert at hiding her callous ways but this was too much, wasn't it? Freia believed there was more at play here, she just couldn't fathom what was amiss...
