Chapter 6 - Making Progress!!

Zero arrived on the island and ran to the old master's house. "Shit man, what the hell!" In his mind the scene played over and over, his slip up caused someone to lose their life. "It's fine, I'm fine..he was robbing a store and held someone hostage so what happened is okay right? If I didn't do what I did, then that woman would have lost her life so it's fine." He tried his best to convince himself that he his means justified taking someone's life.

This didn't seem to work much as his panic levels started to rise slowly, the thought of being able to kill another person so easily scared Zero. He dashed through the dark forest area, narrowly avoiding boulders and trees while he ran with swift movements. After arriving at Roshi's house Zero struggled to open the door, not knowing how his master would react to his actions.

His hand shook harshly, while beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Zero fought himself and in the end opened the door after all he had nowhere else to go. He walked over to sit on the couch across from the old man who had been watching the news.

DING!! The system within his brain activated and spoke with a heavenly soft voice to Zero.

{Master Roshi's opinion of you is teetering, depending on your responses will determine if he abandons you from the 'Turtle Hermit School' or continues to accept you as one of his own.}

***

This bit of unwanted information didn't help his confidence for confronting Roshi about what happened. Just as he was about to speak the bald old man spoke. "Zero..I expected more from you." Master Roshi's words were filled with pitty for him, it felt like he had already given up on him which made the situation even more dire.

"I-im sorry Master, I was trying to stop a robbery and the last guy held someone at gun point! He would have taken that woman's life if I hadn't done anything so I tried to stop him by throwing a pebble to knock him out. That would have been the best option without the risk of the woman getting shot. I ended up underestimated amount of strength I put into the rock." Zero knew he messed up big time, Master Roshi was one of his favorite character within the series; in fact, she had taken the very first spot on his favorite list. The thought of Roshi not accepting him didn't sit right in his stomach

"But there were police officers there, i should have let them do their job then stepped in if things got out of control. I admit I was too cocky, so much so that I ended someone's life-" Zero's eyes started to tear up a little, he never would have thought that he would let power get to his head so fast. It feels so unreal that he has been reborn in another reality, you'd think that it would've been settled in his brain; but, to him most times it feels like a large scare VR game or even a very long dream.

It's harder to accept than most people would make it seem, or maybe he just wasn't as strong willed as them to just welcome this as his new life. It has been almost two months since he lived a normal life and doing normal everyday things, to suddenly being ripped into a new wold where literally anything was possible. Sure he could stop now and go live a normal life in this new world, apply for a researcher position at Capsule Cooperation and earn a living by doing that.

Honestly it didn't sound half bad he wouldn't have to worry about fighting for his life in two years and 5 months, but that life isn't for him anymore. He has a new goal which is accompanied by the thrill of living the story of Dragon Ball! Roshi could see that Zero was deep in thought but still struggled to decide on what to do. [I could teach him the 'Lightning Flash Suprise Attack' and have a promising pupil, but what if he taught him this skill and he went out on another joy ride? He could kill more than just one person even if it was an accident there's still that risk...]

(AN: I realize I've been saying "Thunder shock surprise attack" but it is really "Lightning Flash Suprise Attack" so I'm sorry about that)

The old man was too in deep thought, but he suddenly gave Zero a glance up and down seemingly sizing him up. [Maybe...actually that could work! If this young man gets out of control again, I'll banish him from the school and if he lashes out I have two people who can help me deal with this young man]

Zero was confused on why his teacher was looking him up and down like he was. "Um..Master Roshi?" He kept certain thoughts from crossing his mind but still hoped that wasn't the case, no move is worth that fate!

"I'll teach you my technique but in turn you must promise to use it for good and protect those in need, and DON'T get cocky because there is always someone stronger than you."

This warning made sense and he knew it already but when Roshi said it, he felt like the warning pierced straight through his soul! Nonetheless he was extremely excited to learn this technique. "Yes sir, I promise it won't happen again!" In his mind he was still a little worried of killing someone again but had to put on a confident front for his teacher.

***

DING! {You have successfully convinced Master Roshi to keep you as a student, though this accident of yours has caused him to become slightly more guarded and likely not share any other techniques with you in the future}

This news was to be expected from someone like Roshi, it was a little sad though he wanted to learn the 'Full Power form' from him as well.

They stood up and went behind the house to start practicing the technique. "To get a feel of how strong this attack is I'm going to demonstrate it on you. Don't worry I'm not gonna hold you for too long, just long enough for you to actually assess its power" There were no objections so Zero stood five meters from him and waited for the session to commence. Master Roshi pulled down his sleeves and placed his hands together in a prayer-like position, nothing was happening besides the sound of him grunting and the crickets chirping in the silent night.

After a few moments the ground started to shake, small pebbles levitated and popped, then Lightning crackled around the old man. Zero's palms were sweaty while his legs shook slightly, he was really nervous. [Why didn't I think about this more?? Watching stuff like this is a LOT more intimidating in person, maybe I should-] Just as he was about to move out the way Roshi opened his hands to the point where only his fingertips were touching, this caused green energy to form around hands. "Lightning...Flash-"

The ground shook more violently and his fight or flight activated [Shit shit shit! I need to r-] he was stopped dead in his tracks by a beam-like form of electric energy that shot from the old man. "-Surprise Attack!!" Zero was lifted into the air, his body frozen, surrounded in that green energy, and in immense pain! "Agh!" He grunted and screamed, this pain was unlike anything he's ever felt before. He wanted to escape but couldn't, he felt the flow of electricity throughout his entire body and was on the verge of passing out.

"Can't move can you? Heh, I can hardly move myself while I'm holding out the attack." He would have continued to hold him in the air but by this time around ten seconds had passed and he figured this was long enough for the both of them and released his hold on the scared boy.

Zero fell with a loud thud and stayed there laid out on his back, body occasionally twitching. "Man I'm pooped, let me sit down real quick" Roshi sat crisscrossed while wiping the sweat from his forehead then began to explain the origins of the 'Lightning Flash Suprise Attack'. Zero couldn't move due to every time he tried his entire body would be flooded with pain. This gave him a nice view of of night sky while he listened to his Master explain the past behind the technique. The gist was that it basically turns all Ki in the body into thousands and thousands volts of electricity.

He reached the end of his long winded explanation and finally got to the more simplified explanation. "This attack is very lethal to any target of your choice. As you could see one of the cons of this move is that you as well as the enemy will be immobile depending on how strong they are. The more powerful, means the more you'll have to focus to maintain the attack!"

Zero soaked up all of the information like a sponge and began to process it in his mind. [I figured that was the case, but if we are being technically you can train with the technique enough to the point of complete mastery. That means if trained properly then, one day I'll be able to use the attack while moving or even in other ways!] He had plans for this attack which caused him to smile like a mad man.

"Now that you've learned how the technique works, you have the potential to fully utilize it if trained right. My last two pupils have mastered a different Turtle Hermit technique without my help so naturally you'll have to do the same." His expectations were high but that's to be expected. These two would sit here until the morning, and from that day forward for the next five months Zero would practice day in and day out to master the 'Lightning Flash Suprise Attack'
