CH1187: The Queen of Spade
**
The Queen of Spade...
He was a young man about thirty years old. He was a fisherman's son, growing up on both the Shebelle River and, during the river's low tides, the Sea of Somalia.
He grew up revering the water, like kids with a similar background.
And like most kids with his background, he was appalled to see what the foreigners were doing to their waters.
Due to the lack of Navy or even a Coast Guard, foreign vessels would enter the country's territorial waters and fish with impunity. These fishing vessels were more often than not vastly superior to the small boats and canoes the Somali fishermen used. As a result, the foreigners caught more fish than the Somali fishermen.
Eventually, the fish stopped coming close to the coast line in a bid to escape capture. This meant the Somali fishermen could no longer catch fish while the foreigners responsible for the situation could chase the fish further out into the sea and ocean.
