Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: An Ambitious Little Eagle (Edited)

Bell's expression changed. He no longer had a look of compassion but of pity.

His roommate, feeling uneasy about Bell's gaze, finally asked, "What's wrong? Are you going or not?"

"Well..."

Bell sighed and tapped his roommate on the shoulder.

"Brother, let me give you a bit of wisdom: the thousand-year-old treasures found today are called 'antiques,' not 'treasures.' And from what I know, in the magical world, no one speculates with antiques."

"So, without getting into whether these supposed treasures really exist, even if you happen to find them, what would you gain? You must know that there's no magical object that can survive a thousand years without meticulous care. So you would only get a pile of junk, maybe some old books that would crumble at a touch. By the way, do you understand the language from a thousand years ago?"

"Of course not!"

The roommate had an expression of "you know nothing about magic."

"I heard that the treasure contains a powerful type of magic that only the Four Founders possessed, so if I get it, I can become as powerful as them! No, even more powerful!"

Bell scrutinized his roommate and couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't been sorted into Slytherin. Perhaps because he wasn't of pure blood? Or simply because he had ambitions and didn't fit in? Wait, what was this guy's name?

"So, you mean to say that the Four Founders of Hogwarts, who spent their lives creating this magical school, instead of passing down their valuable magical knowledge to their descendants or teaching it to their students, hid it in some unknown secret place and buried it for a thousand years? And then why did they create the school in the first place? That's just absurd!" Bell scoffed.

"Moreover, according to existing history books, the Four Founders are not known for having extraordinary powers. At best, it's mentioned that Godric Gryffindor was skilled in dueling and fencing; Salazar Slytherin was an expert in dark magic and had a penchant for snakes; Rowena Ravenclaw was known for her vast knowledge and was also beautiful; and Helga Hufflepuff... well, she was said to have a kind character, right?"

"Siento que el comentario sobre Helga Hufflepuff fue un poco grosero. ¿O tal vez ella estaría feliz de escuchar ese elogio?" pensó Bell.

"So, do you hope to gain experience in Gryffindor dueling? Why not ask our wonderful headmaster, Professor Flitwick? Don't be fooled by his height; I understand Professor Flitwick was a champion in a dueling tournament. Or perhaps you seek knowledge in Dark Arts from Slytherin? Why not ask our amazing potions professor, Professor Snape? Just a glance at his appearance tells you he's a master of Dark Arts. Or maybe you desire the vast magical knowledge of Madam Ravenclaw? Why not ask our esteemed librarian, Madam Pince?"

"Wait, wait!"

Bell's roommate interrupted Bell's words.

"I can understand the first two, but what's so special about Madam Pince?"

"Madam Pince isn't special, but she's in charge of the Hogwarts library! If you get on her bad side, she can ban you from accessing the library. So, do you already master all the knowledge found in the library?"

Bell looked disdainfully at his roommate. In these times, who didn't know that "librarians" and "janitors" were the two jobs you definitely shouldn't annoy? With his level of intelligence, did he still want to search for treasures?

"If what you seek is Helga Hufflepuff's kind personality..."

Bell rubbed his chin and looked his roommate up and down, assessing him thoroughly.

"Then, I really can't help you with that. So, son, times have changed, and you must learn to move forward."

Clearly, Bell's sincere advice didn't resonate with his roommate. The latter was firmly convinced that "times haven't changed!" Therefore, he felt quite upset, especially not liking the way Bell looked at him, as if he were a fool (Bell: "Yes, you have a very sharp perception"). This made him uncomfortable.

The angered roommate got up and went to find Bell's other roommate. They both gathered and whispered to each other for a while, occasionally glancing in Bell's direction. Finally, they left the common room stealthily.

It seems Shanna's hopes have been dashed; even after arriving at Hogwarts, Bell still didn't seem to be making friends.

Actually, Bell had already anticipated this. According to his furtive observations and eavesdropping, the three most popular topics among the young wizards at Hogwarts are Harry Potter, chocolate frog cards, and Quidditch teams. Basically, if you talk about Harry Potter and his lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, everyone can be your friend... What? You already have all the chocolate frog cards? In that case, we can't be friends, goodbye... What? You don't support the Quidditch team? Then, we can only be enemies, get out of here!

Of course, the main reason Bell doesn't make friends is that he doesn't approach or voluntarily interact with other young wizards, often facing them in a way that pushes them away, as he did with his unfortunate roommate. However, Bell doesn't care at all. For him, having his sister is enough; what else does he need?

Setting aside those useless thoughts, Bell lowered his head and continued with his homework.

He hoped his two roommates would be fine tonight. If by chance they were caught by the caretakers, being punished or even locked in detention wouldn't be a big deal. After all, due to Harry's arrival, the past few days have been quite complicated for Professor Snape. His mood has been beyond complicated, swinging between love and hate. So, if the caretaker, like Filch, was cunning enough to catch someone, he would definitely send them to Snape's office, and at that point, Bell wouldn't be surprised if they lost a hundred points each.

Although Ravenclaw is one of the four houses at Hogwarts and cares the least about the House Cup, it doesn't mean that the young Ravens can take lightly the fact that the number of gems accumulated by their house in the Great Hall is half that of the other three houses. After all, people have their pride, and the self-esteem of children is especially strong. Moreover, Ravenclaw is a house full of outstanding students and apparently has never been in last place since the founding of Hogwarts.

So, it can be foreseen that if Bell's two roommates are caught exploring at night, they will have to experience the harsh world of reality at an early age.
