Chapter 7: Embracing Truth and Destiny
Ian's curiosity had been simmering for a while, and he finally mustered the courage to ask his mother the question that had been on his mind.
"Mom, can I ask you something?" Ian's voice was barely above a whisper.
His mother looked up from her work, a hint of concern in her eyes. "About what, son?"
"About me... my identity... the truth about me?" Ian's words trailed off, leaving the question hanging in the air.
His mother took a deep breath, her expression softening. "I think it's time you knew the truth, Ian. Your father and I... we found you on the riverbank near our old house. You were just a little boy, crying and scared. We didn't know who your parents were, and despite our efforts, we couldn't find anyone claiming you. So, we decided to adopt you, and over the years, we've loved you as our own."
Ian's eyes widened as he processed the revelation. He had always known he was adopted, but he had never pressed for details.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Ian asked, his voice laced with emotion.
His mother's eyes welled up with tears. "We wanted to protect you, son. But now... now I think it's time for you to find your real parents. You have a destiny to fulfill, and we can't keep you here. Queen Archandia might be able to help you uncover the truth about your past."
Ian's mind reeled as he absorbed his mother's words. He felt a mix of emotions: shock, curiosity, and a sense of purpose. He knew he had to embark on this journey, to uncover the secrets about his identity and his abilities.
