Why would Shen Chong want Jing Yan to become the Ten Hall Master?
Perhaps there are multiple reasons, but certainly one very important reason is that Shen Chong himself too wishes that Jing Yan could eliminate the Gai Family.
Shen Chong himself can't openly deal with the Gai Family for the time being, but he hopes to eradicate them through Jing Yan's hands.
If Jing Yan lacked the ability to stand on his own, would there still be a need to make him the Ten Hall Master?
If Jing Yan lacked courage, then even if he became the Ten Hall Master, it's doubtful that the other Hall Masters would sincerely help him.
At today's Hall Master meeting, Shen Chong may also have been testing Jing Yan.
"Hmph, what does it matter if you're a High-level Alchemist?"
