"I don't like people who smoke too much," Jasmine Yale said indifferently.
"Why?" He leaned against the wall with interest, squinting at her.
"They die young."
"..." Sylvan Cheney found himself at a loss for words with that reason.
He curved the corners of his lips slightly, stopped smoking, and silently watched her.
Jasmine bent down and kept to herself.
She wasn't proficient, having just learned the basics. No matter how she played, she was lousy at it, failing multiple times to pocket a single ball, which was quite disheartening.
She played carelessly to entertain herself, while he watched her.
As she bent her head to ponder angles, she spoke to him in a detached tone, "Aren't you going out for social engagements tonight?"
"Not going out."
"Do you often play billiards at home?"
"Not really," Sylvan replied.
Before, his way to de-stress was playing billiards, but now it has changed. It's mostly drinking, smoking.
