Chapter 66 - Draco (1)

Chapter 66—Draco (1)

On the next day, around half past four in the morning, Jia had already left the house even before the staff and Xu Long Wei. Wearing her tactical gear and her training uniform, she rode her Range Rover to the haunted mountain forty-five minutes away from Jia Garden.

Although she set the time around six in the morning, she wanted to scout the area before the other trainee arrived. Last night, Xu Long Wei mentioned that the place is being managed by his second-in-command, Draco.

From the way he describes Draco, Jia could already see that he is a difficult person to deal with. She got curious about how the man set up traps in the mountain and thus wanted to study it herself.

A Range Rover stopped in the designated parking space at the bottom of the mountain. Jia steps down with her torch in hand and begins to approach the place carefully. Fully alert of her surroundings, she increased her steps and started running agilely into the darkness.

Having been trained and experienced in the same environment since she was nine years old, it was not hard for her to overcome the obstacles placed by Draco. Although it might seem strenuous for an ordinary soldier, it was a different story for her.

After some time of checking the area, she had enough information about the place and was about to leave when a tall silhouette of a man caught her attention. He was standing serenely in the secluded spot, and considering the time, Jia became more alert. She doesn't trust anyone who behaves suspiciously.

Although the man looks like a god standing at the bottom of the waterfall naked from the top and not caring about the cold, it didn't move Jia a bit. She is more concerned about the man's stupidity to soak himself in the icy water. The only person that Jia knows who does that is Xu Long Wei. No, actually, her father. She still remembers the time when they had to stay in the rocky mountains of Country A and had to endure the cold.

Her father believes that if you manage to injure the cold, you will be healthy your entire life. For Jia, it was a complete hoax procured by her father's insanity.

Not wanting to dwell on her old man's crazy memory together, she continued her observation. The man steps inside the water and sits for long minutes. Jia wanted to see his expression but didn't want to expose her place, so she waited for the man in her spot.

------------------------------------

Only the waterfall and crows' noise can be heard in the deepest part of the mountain. Jia almost fell from the tree she was hiding in due to sleepiness. "Damn, I shouldn't have woken up early," she thought.

She checks the crazy man's position; however, she notices that he vanished. Deciding that her curiosity has wasted more time than necessary, she decided to leave the area and meet her soldier at their meeting place.

Like a cat, she agilely dropped her body and gracefully landed on the solid ground when a sharp whoosh sound coming from her back alerted her. She ducked her head and faced the trajectory of the weapon that just passed her.

With a keen eye, she looks around to spot any moving object but finds none. It seems that her opponent is not someone to be trifled with.

A predatory smile forms on her lips as she leaps to the nearest tree to hide her vulnerable angle. She needs time to concentrate and locate her enemy's location.

A few seconds later, a triumphant sparkle of light emerged in her emerald eyes. "Gotcha," she murmured before running in the opposite direction.

--------------------------------

Draco was suppressing his breathing to prevent the person from spying on him locating her current hiding spot. He was about to finish his training when he realized that someone was watching him.

Not knowing who the person was, he attacked first when he got the chance. However, he didn't expect the person would be skillful enough to avoid his attack quickly. He takes pride in his excellent ability to kill with just one move, but that person managed to survive.

Studying his current situation, Draco wants to curse his negligence for not bringing his weapons before leaving the house.

There was never a chance that a wanderer would find themselves lost in this part of the mountain. Therefore, he concluded that whoever the person that intently watched him from afar had a hidden intention to cause harm.

"This is bad," he thought. Since his location is not ideal for a cover-up, he swiftly runs to a bigger tree when his movement is unexpectedly stopped by a sharp dagger pointing at his throat. The light coming from the moon glistened on the razor-sharp side of the blade.

"Don't move; I might accidentally cut you. It will be a waste of your beauty if I do so." A melodic voice whispered in his ears. Although the situation he was in would give terror to others, Draco felt a sudden chill on his spine after he heard the woman's calm yet alluring voice.

His body stiffened. "Who are you, and what are you doing in this mountain? This is private property." He questioned. He needs to know if the woman is Xu Long Wei's enemy. It is his job to protect the man and to make sure that everything runs smoothly in this mountain.

The woman let go of his throat and moved backwards away from him. "Are you Draco? She asked.

"Yes, who are you?"

"I am Lu Jia. I came here to check out the place since my men are coming for training." Jia replied.

Draco's mind freezes as the woman mentions her name. "Damn, this woman is the boss's wife? Damn." The man curses again, feeling down all of a sudden.
