Chapter 10—Reunion (3)
A private jet landed in a small clearing close to the town where Vera is. A tall man exited in a hurry, followed by his secretary.
Xu Long Wei came, and it surprised his private guards. Their boss seldom leaves Country X unless there is an important business. Due to multiple assassination attempts against him, he preferred to do business in his country. However, today is a different matter. He needs to be in this area to personally see her.
His special force, although excellent in combat, would have difficulty finding her. His people's presence will undoubtedly put her on edge. He is very confident that she is hiding and planning her attack against his men. The woman is extensive and always plans ahead of time; however, knowing that he changes a lot after many years, he suspected she would not recognize the people he sent.
In the alley, Vera trained her ears to the soldier reporting to their leader. While listening, she is a hundred percent sure that they are after her. She wants to move from her place, but their location is very close to each other. Changing a position to cover is not a good option, but after hearing that the boss of this team has arrived, Vera is left with no choice.
She has to move now! She covered her face and left her area but was stopped by a soldier who was looking for a place to pee.
"Hey, you!" he called out. She ignores him and continues walking.
The team that was busy planning got startled after their comrade's shout. They followed the voice and were confronted by a person wearing thick, baggy clothes. The mask covering the person's head is obscuring them from seeing her face. They can only calculate that she is a woman based on her height.
Before they approached the woman, she only sprinted in his direction and attacked one soldier closest to her.
The leader was taken by surprise, seeing that the woman is genuinely skilled. But what caught his attention was when she pulled a Beretta Pico hidden in her waist. He dashes towards the soldier and only manages to push him before he proceeds to attack the woman as well. They engage in hand-to-hand combat, and he is amazed by her technique. He hasn't seen anyone using it before. It is like a combination of martial arts. Her attacks are accurate and deadly.
With a nod, he instructed his men to attack the woman all at once. They should not take her for granted. Based on his experience, she is not someone they can quickly kill. Even he is not confident of defeating this woman.
Vera is busy defending her body from the soldier attacking her from every angle. She is very dissatisfied with her current strength. If this was seven years ago, she should have already been finished by now. Not wanting to spend her energy anymore. Her only way is escaping this situation.
Sick with this, she blocks the attack on her left side and kicks the guy in his stomach. She leaped to the dumpsters and took out her gun. While on air, she pointed the gun at the man but was caught and dragged by the leader down. She hit the ground hard.
She curses while spitting some blood, and now her ribs are broken. But before she has the time to check more of her injuries, one guard pulls a military knife and is ready to attack her again. She uses her leg to attack the leader that is holding her and regain her form and shoots the guy. He was quick enough to move, but his shoulder was still injured. The soldier is more pissed now.
Deciding that her outer jacket is affecting her movements, Vera tore it out swiftly. But because of her careless action, her overall was also torn, exposing her upper body. It was a mistake, so she didn't care anymore. She fought naked inside the basement for 7 years; being naked is not a big issue for her. Cold doesn't affect her anyway. The soldier was taken aback by what they saw. Scars! The woman is full of scars! Not just normal scars but combat scars!
Because of this, they hesitated to move closer to her. If she has scars on her body like this, it means that she was in life-or-death battles and is a master. They have to be careful.
